May not be the most timely response, but there are some rather incriminating articles & posts on the Internet regarding Whiplash & their lifts. Just hit up your preferred search engine & do some searching....you'll be surprised.

Go here.. and call or e-mail this company see if they have ever installed the lift before on a truck like yours.. if they have ask for pictures. http://www.rockymountainsusp.com/dodge4_94.htm because you want to make sure they know what they are doing.. otherwise you'll be stuck w/ pieces on the ground.. instead of bolted on like they are supost to be.

I really dont trust letting another person put it together and i dont know anybody around my area that would build it anyways. Hey how durable do u think your lift is. And what is the bumber stops?

Not Bumper Stops.. Bump Stops. They are what keeps your control arms from going to far in one direction or the other.

Also DONT INSTALL THAT YOUR SELF! have you ever installed a suspension lift before? Do you have a lift you can use not just jackstands. Do you have air tools & a welder?

We have no information on this lift positive and no one put a walkthrew of the install on the web anywhere. I would definatelly wait another month or 2 to come up with the $$ to have someone qualified install it. Read my post about all the problems I've had with my lift. Then you'll understand some of the things that could happen with yours.

Before i had my 5.5" installed i was looking at whiplash, I talked to them via email and they said that they warranty their kits, so if u jacked something up on it they would replace the broken parts. and they encourage you to use the lift for off-roading. my understanding is that if u want to go HUGE, you can do the 10" whiplash and a 3" body and then run 38's...and they said that it is still under warranty even if u have a body lift or off-road....and i agree with knobbyman, DONT INSTALL IT YOURSELF..u can email whiplash and ask where you should get it installed. I did that also and they gave me 3 names and numbers of companies around so. cal that they trust to install their kits.

Only quality thing available to you if you have a 4x4 is a 3" Body lift from performance accessories.

You'll be able to run 33" tires.. But that's the only quality option.

Guy's

Forget about whiplash all together. My buddy just got a 10" whiplash on his 03 Ram....brodeed it once and already showing tension cracks on the dropdown welds.I once talked to Cory at lash and he was dick anyway. Also Body lifts are crap, another wards only install one if you absolutely need to. Get away from bolt on performance...Your Dakota's could be sweet if you put some custom fab into them. Just look at all of the Ford Rangers and S-10's that you see advertised in Off Road Magazine or at truck expos...All of them, custom longtravel. If you guys are looking for height as well as travel, Thats possible too.Dakota's are becomming more popular lately.(Id rather have a dakota v8 rather than a Ram) I currently own a 98 f-150 2wd with a 10" long travel sus.(14" of travel) 12" King coilovers, Custom Uni-Ball joints, full heimed steering, Custom sub-frame dropdown, 8" Atlas soft rides in the rear, etc etc etc 38" swampers. If you want height or droop, it is deffinatly worth paying the extra money for custom fab...Ive been through the bolt-on lift world...busting ball joint in the worst places possible... going through a-arms like I go through a 12 pack of beer...i was just through with it. Depending on where you guys are from...Im sure there is someone that has some knowledge on this matter...Good luck and keep them Dakota's looking sick...

Josh,

First of all, you dont JACK it up...you LIFT it up Josh...you got that? havent heard that saying in about 20 years.
Also, I thought about purchasing a 4x4 to begin with, although I had to settle for the 2wd at the time. I enjoy the travel you can get out of the fabricating 2wd's.Dont have to worry about having too much fun and breaking a cv joints or tweaking torsion bars...plus you get a ton of ground clearance with 2wd... Dont get me wrong, iv'e seen some sick 4x4's that truly have the show and go. It all boils down to what you are into...............By the way Josh, my REAL 2wd ford can crush your little Dakota by the touch of my 38 inch swamper....keep that in mind. hehehe

here's the truth about whiplash performance center inc and their acts within their business. sorry about the long post.

from www.insurancejournal.com
"July 13, 2001

A pair of Fresno, Calif., residents were arrested following a 10-month investigation by the California Department of Insurance (CDI) Criminal Investigations Branch's Fraud Division and several other task forces, including the California Highway Patrol, the Fresno County HEAT Team, the Fresno County District Attorney's Office, the National Insurance Crime Bureau and the Bureau of Automotive Repair.

After serving search warrants at Whiplash Performance Center Inc., and Performance Wholesale Inc., Robert "Robbie" Lee Baker and his sister Karie Fabits were arrested.

Baker, 30, the manager of both businesses, and Fabits, 25, who served as bookkeeper and salesperson, were each arrested on a pair of counts of insurance fraud and booked into the Fresno County Jail on $10,000 bail. If convicted, both could serve up to 10 years in state prison and $100,000 in fines.

In the last year and a half, the CDI Fresno's Regional Fraud Office obtained information from a number of insurance companies, including Allstate, Farmers, CSAA, and State Farm, in relation to suspected fraudulent insurance claim activity allegedly being conducted by an automotive repair and retail parts business called Whiplash Performance Center Inc., specializing in the repair and sale of four-wheel drive vehicle equipment.

Special investigators from a number of insurance companies stated they investigated several auto thefts of four-wheel drive vehicles where the vehicles recovered were stripped and/or burned.

According to the findings, the claimants, customers and/or employees of Whiplash Performance are alleged to have provided Whiplash Performance sales receipts for costly after-market parts, which included high performance engines that were missing at the time of recovery.

At the time Special Investigators checked on the validity of the receipts, employees of Whiplash Performance, including Baker and Fabits, allegedly authenticated the receipt.

Insurance company Special Investigators claim the vehicle thefts were staged and the reported stolen parts never either reached the vehicles or they were removed prior to the staged theft. Investigators also believe the claimants accidentally damaged a number of the suspect vehicles (off-road accidents), with the thefts staged to get the insurance companies to repair or replace them.

As a result of the activities, the insurance companies paid out more than $100,000 in fraudulent claims.

Other employees and customers who allegedly took part in illegal insurance fraud scams with the pair, may also be arrested in the near future as investigators continue gathering evidence."

you decide what type of company makes your lift kit now.

He can get custom control arms made. I assume you have a 1500. If so, you can get 2500 springs for a diesel which are 9" and add a spacer. Most guys use a 2-3" spacer. Also check out Mudslinger's truck. He runs 44's

I am now looking at a Dakota with this particular lift on it. He has 35's on it as well. I have driven it and to be honest I havent found a thing wrong with it yet. It seems to me from the little i have read so far that the problems lie in these people business practicess and not in their product. Am I incorrect here. The guy did weld all of the parts on as apposed to just bolting them on as well.(dont know if that makes a diffrence or not). Arent there other add-on's just as track bars and things like that that could help with rigidity? I am really considering buying this truck so if there is some really good reasons as to why I shouldn't please let me know. I am new to this site as well so if you could send me an email with some better links or info that would be great.
