Message:
I have a 95 4x4 with a 318 and i am putting a 2" performance accesories body lift on it in a couple weeks and i seen where it says in order to do this i need to replace lower radiator hose and fan so my question is what kind of fan do i need to replace it with? should i get an electric fan that mounts to the radiator because the reason i see that the fan has to be replaced is becasue it will hit the tranmission lines on the bottom of the radiator but i was wondering if there was a simple way to get this lift to work or will i need to get an electric fan and if so then how many cfm will it take to keep it cool.....i need all the help i can get cause i'm only 17 and have never put a lift on a truck so please help me out if you can

That's odd that you have to replace the fan.. I don't understand why that would matter.. But I guess if you looked @ it and you can see why it would then ok.. Who has a 95 w/ the 5.2 ..

I can understand having to replace the fan...the belt driven fan is attached to the engine (hence not moved for the lift), but the radiator (and the transmission cooler lines) go up with the body. Not an issue with the GEN III body lifts, but conceptually I can understand it.

As far as electric fans, I can't help you...never looked into one. But there are all kinds of posts covering electric fans...most people go electric for performance, so I'd browse the performance and V8 boards. I'd lean towards getting the largest one that would fit since you don't have to worry about parasitic power loss with a large fan (or two smaller ones).

I was under the impression that the fan was not an issue with just a 2” body lift but is with a 3” kit. I could be wrong however. I do know that on the 91-96 V8 models, when you lift the body 3”, the lower radiator hose interferes with the stock-cooling fan. Like Dan stated, the radiator lifts with the body and the fan stays with the engine.

I installed a 2" on my 95' extended cab and still have the original fan. You will have to cut out the lower section of the fan shroud and maybe have to teak the Auto trans lines at the radiator if so equipped, but that is it.

Did I say teak? I meant tweak.
