Subject: 2" Body Lift for 93 Dak with 318
IP: Logged

Message:
I was looking at body lifts for my truck with the 318 V8, adnt the PA one says that I will need to replace lower radiaor hose and fan. Lower radiator hose is no biggie, but what has to be done with the fan? Do I just have to take the stock one off and use an electric?

Anyone used one of these on an older Dak with a 318?

Anyone know of another brand that does not require messing wih the fan (i'd guess they all would)?

Thanks,

Steve

Two Choices:

1. Replace the stock fan with an electric.

2. Cut out the lower half of your fan shroud.

I have the 2" B/L on my 95 (along with the Trail master 4" susp.) and chose to go with option #2. I have the V8/auto combo and the only negative experience I have had is that the fan has "touched" the metal compression fitting of the tranny line on the passenger side when the suspension was flexed significantly. Other than that, no complaints....and I did Not change any hoses. I believe that is needed for the 3" though.

Walt Felix (do a search) has an older dak and he did the electric fan I believe.

Hope this helps.

The issue is with the 3” body lift. The lower radiator hose interferes with the stock cooling fan on the V8 trucks. An electric fan usually resolves that issue. I’ve heard from a few people that it really isn’t a problem with only a 2” body lift.
