Subject: Body lift w/ trailer hitch

Message:
It's time for new tires and I want to lift so I can fit 33's but I dont know what can be done with the factory hitch reciever. Does anyone know if this is easily moved up or how bad it looks if left down 3" under the rear bumper? Does anyone have a good pic of how it looks with it not moved up? Any help would be greatly appreciated as this is the only question I haven't been able to find by searching the forums.

Oh yeah I have a '02 4x4 SLT CC dual rear exhaust and factory hitch reciever.

Thanks

One other thing too, almost forgot but I had a flat yesterday.....what about the fitting to let down the spare from under the truck? Is it mounted to the frame and how would you get to it after the bumper is moved? Does the PA body kit come with a bracket? Thanks again

The PA kit comes with instructions on how to relocate it, that is, IF you raise your bumper, which i would suggest. One thing you can do is only raise the bumper 2 inches with the 3 inch lift. If you do this, it can allow you to use one of the existing holes that holds the hitch and only have to drill two new holes to move the bumper, instead of three. And it hides the hitch a little better. Here is a pic of mine...also, the hole by the license plate will need to be re-drilled...i can e-mail pics if you want to see how to clean that up nice...jbahr@twcny.rr.com

Ok, great, thats exactly what I wanted to know. One question...what size are the tires on your truck?

Anyways, thanks for the help!... I'm gonna go order a kit now.

I was thinking about using a Hidden Hitch with my 3" body lift. Since it sits naturally higher in the frame. But, I'm not sure if it would be too high. I need to find someone with one and make some measurements.

That is What I did and it make the hitch sit at Stock height. I choose the Hidden hitch and I'm 110% happy with it.

Let me know if you have any questions?

thats just the pa 3 inch lift and 32's. Did have to lengthen the 4x4 shifter but did it with a coupler nut and all-thread(no welding). Did have a snap ring bust in my transfer case but i believe it was nothing to do with the lift, the truck had over 80,000 with no serious problems at the time.

I was thinkin 'bout doin a body lift myself. I wasn't sure whether to do a 3" or a 2" lift. I'd like to get 33's on the truck, but I could prolly settle for 32's. Or just stick with the 31's, whichever. I liked the idea of the 2" lift b/c it was simply putting blocks in the rear and crankin on the torsion bars. The 3" sounded alot more complicated. Any suggestions?
