Subject: 3" body lift
IP: Logged

Message:
I put a 3" body lift on my 4.7 01 quadcab 4x4. I then put on 285/75/16s back on stock rims. I love the look but I get some minor rubbing in full turns. Someone siad I could tweak the torsion bars to prevent this. Any idea if this will help and if I can do it myself? I am pretty much an amateur. When I installed the body lift, I let the steering wheel rotate 360 and ended up having to replace the clock spring:(
The learning curve can be expensive(lol).

cranking the torsion bars will raise the front up and allow more clearance...however if you have rubbing mainly on the frame it probably won't help much. that can be fixed by after market rims with less backspacing, otherwise you will still have minor rubbing

Thanks for the tip. The rubbing is not on the frame so I will give it a try.

if your rubbing is on the front valance (grey part for slt's) at the lower portion, cut it off, i run 305 70r16 and had to do this, my only problem is very minor rubbing on frame, but that only occurs when my suspenion is flexed, i cranked up the bars, and it went away, but still had the valance rubbing

Mitch, amateur myself...I have a 3" PA body kit in the box and 285/75/16 pro-comp xterrains waiting for me to get this kit on. What kind of time did it take you,and besides the stearing spring problem, do you have any forwarnings now that your hands on and done.
