Subject: Pricing for 3" Lifts?
IP: Logged

Message:
You guys got me hooked, I want to get a 3" lift on my 98 Dakota 2WD Reg Cab and I don't know where to start. How much would it be for the lift, and where would I be able to get it installed? Also with the lift, would I have to change the tires and rims or anything else?

i dont know much bout the 2wds but i do know that fabtech makes the lift, youll have to call any performance or off road shops where u live to get installation prices. as far as tires go u can run a 31x10.50x15 but u might need 15x8 rims. hope this helps

are you wanting a body or suspension lift? this difference will usually effect the cost in a major way.

If it helps, just ordered a 3" Performance Accessories body lift from 4wheelparts.com. They price matched another website, and beat it by 5 bucks, so I got the kit for 195.00. And no shipping, cuase I got free shipping w/the new 33" BFGoodrich's and Alloy 15x8's I ordered.
Those guys were really easy to work with.
Good luck, and hth,
Gary

4wheelparts.com is a very good place to start, or if you can go their closest dealer/shop then do that - it's much easier to get things worked out when you can talk in person.

I've got a 4 Wheel Parts store 20 minutes away from my house (Memphis, TN) and I go there all the time. Very knowledgeable, very good items, and extremely wide selection. If they don't have something you want, ask them and they will order it.

JUst the other day I ordered my 3" body lift and 33" BFG's from there. I also bought a westin safari bar from there and had it installed today - looks great.

BUT - to answer your questions, if you are insterested in keeping the same wheels, go with a body lift. If you want to get new wheels along with new tires, then go with the Fabtech suspension lift. You cannot keep stock wheels with the Fabtech as the backspacing will not allow your tires to turn.

The 3" body lift runs around $200 generally most places ($201.99 when I bought it the other day) and the cheapest I've found the suspension lift is $735 with free shipping at www.4x4cyberstore.com (though, again, you will need new wheels with a suspension lift which will run you at least $400 more). Installation can be done at most any truck/jeep specialist shop including 4wheelparts. I, however, am getting my installation done by Adventure 4x4 - a local shop that has already done good work with my friends F-150. The installation itself is about $375 each for suspension and body lift there (4wheelparts quoted me at $520 each).

Hope that helped, and good luck.

thank you for all your responses everybody! i was hoping i would only have to spend 200 for a 3" body lift, but those installation prices are killing my 17 year old minimum wage budget :[ looks like i'll be staying stock

You need to buy a few tools and learn a little about your truck.
Installing the PA kit yourself is easy and there are enough people on here to give advice if you get stuck.

Whats up everyone? I'm pinging about the 3" body lift that I will be putting on my 03 Quad Cab. I keep reading internet articles talking about extending hoses and wires and then welding. If the body lift involves all of that, then I will search for some place that can install it for me. If all of this is not involved for my Dak, then I will do it myself. Anyone who has already done the body lift that has input, please send some my way. dominick.juliano@adab.centaf.af.mil

Good Luck, Odyssey!
I personally have the 19th slated as "THE" day for my dak; I have a couple of guys and a subway monster sub meeting at a garage to do the lift. I hope we can keep it to 4 hours or less (depending on how everyone eats)...
I can't wait.
wish i had the cash for a nice rancho suspension, but, sigh...
