Subject: 4wd height -VS- 2wd height

Message:
I know that the front suspenions on 4x4's uses torsion bars and the fronts of 2wd's have Coilovers. I'd like to know what the difference is in height between the two if both trucks have the same tires.

A stock 4x4 parked next to a stock 4x2 is about 3 inches heigher it seems, but I am pretty sure that all the 4x4's come with 31" tires and the 4x2's come with 29's.

What's the difference in height if the two trucks have the same tires?

you answered your question 3" . Three inches taller with the same tire . A 2wd with a 3" lift is as tall as a stock 4x . Tire size doesn't give you lift ......

tire size will raise the truck up. If you go from a 29" tire to a 31" tire it will raise it about 1"

Are you sure it's a full 3" taller if it's got the same tires on it?

yes I have a 3" fabtech lift on my 2wd quad and it's 3" taller maybe 3.5 but with some time it will sag , had mine for year and half and still the same . Now the thing is the backspacing of the rims . Stockers are really far in , like a front wheel drive car and you can fit bigger tires and wil rub on the frame or bring the rim out and will rub the valance and inner fender well. With the fabtech you have no choice cause you'll rub your brake lines and rupture them if you don't have atleasr 4" of backspace or less. fabtech says 3 1/2 but you could go 4.......

I couldn't find what you were talking about on the site because there is no way to search by part number. When you say "adapter" are you talking about a set of wheel spacers?
