Subject: Question on warranty

Message:
Does anyone know if your warranty will be void on parts if you crank your torsion bar? i would like to keep my car somewhat under warranty, since i tend to break parts 4 wheeling and i kinda like the fact that Dodge fixes them for free. Sorry for the dumb question, but i just wanted to know if anyone has had a problem with Dodge in the past for it.

Thanks!

As long as they can't tell you cranked them... I don't know how they would tell you no. Also how do they know you cranked them? They come in different hights from the factory if I'm not mistaken.

NO, aftermarket parts will NOT void your warranty! In 1975, Congress enacted the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Improvement Act. Summarized, the law states that warranty coverage may only be refused on covered parts that failed ONLY if the failure was directly caused by an aftermarket part ( a difficult process to prove. ) For example, if you installed a Fram filter while changing your oil in your driveway, Dodge can't deny coverage when your head gasket blows- unless they can prove the oil filter was the cause! If you throw on a set of 44" Mudders and your Transmission takes a crap, Dodge will have to PROVE that the tires caused the failure. The opinion of the service manager isn't proof. He would need to provide evidence that the failure was a result of the tires and since transmissions fail on stock vehicles from time to time, he would have a difficult case to make. You guys can get a detailed view of this act at the following link:

I hope this helps. Thanks for allowing me to post.

I purchased a used 2002 Dodge Dakota and now the transmission has gone out. Will this be covered under factory warranty?
