Subject: 3" Front lift

I always thought that the Dakota would look the best with a 3 inch lift in the front only, not the rear with it. It's weird, but thats my opinion.

So...whats the best way to achieve this? Any help would be awesome.

I TOTALLY AGREE, IM THINKING ABOUT DOING THIS TO MY 01 2WD DAKOTA WITH JUST THE 3" body lift up front, leaving off the rear, hopefull someone will do it.

Hate to burst your bubble...but you cant do a body lift up front and not in back. And if you did afro-engineer it up that way, it would be extremely unsafe and ghettofied.

You could however do a 3" suspension lift up front and not in the back.

He didn't say body lift - he just said lift... But still - you don't need 3 inches to compensate for the nose down effect that Dakota's have. If you measure the difference in height between your front and rear wheel whels you'll see that it would look pretty silly if the front was 3 inches higher. It's probably only 1.5 inches shorter than the back right now.

Dakhunter is right. You're fine if you put 3" lift coils in the front, but you'll probably find it sits low in the rear. 2" coils would level you.

3" Coils plus 1" blocks in the rear.... now you're talking a subtle, cool looking lift. Need nice aluminum rims to set it off.

Cheers,

Well, if you have the motivation for overkill, you could do some trigometry and cut the lifting blocks for the body lift at decreasing height and at an angle. But this is just for the silly bored people.

Noltz,
I Have a 98 Dak 2wd v6. I am also looking to raise the front of my truck a little more. If I put the 1" blocks in the rear and 3" coils up front, won.t i also have to replace the upper control arm in order to maintain proper geometry. I know its not needed with 2" coils, but doesn't that extra lift put to much strain on the rack and tie rod ends?

Are you sure that 2" coils won't do any damage to the front suspension?
