Subject: coil spacers and add a leaf
IP: Logged

Message:
I had the front of my dakota lifted with fabtech's 3 inch coil lift and was wondering if I could add daystars 2 inch coil spacers to get 4 inches of lift in the front and then add add-a-leafs in the rear to make that sit the same height as the front? Or put blocks in the back? Would this work or not? I would appreciate the help.

Wouldn't recommend it.

The front control arms would be at a bad angle any more than 4" of lift. Maybe swap in 4" springs, if you can find 'em, but that's it without other suspension mods.

What about a 1 or 2" body lift? A 1" probably won't need much work at all (rad shroud, maybe), and get more room for tires without cutting the body.

Again, not recommended. Coil spacers are a cheap suspension lift. You've already done the suspension lift with 3" taller coils. Any taller and you're getting into bad suspension angles. This means parts wear out a lot faster.

Did you do anything to the rear, or does it sit a little low right now?

My recommendation is a set of 2" blocks for the rear, and a 2" body lift. 1" body lift isn't worth your time. This will get you a total of about 4½" higher than stock, while still maintaining most of the stock geometry & handling. It's a good combo for street and light trail.
