Subject: dakota torsion bars?

Question for anyone willing to answer! Do dodge dakotas have torsion bars? I want to level the front of my truck out and one of my friends did it to his truck, not a dak! I have a 2000 extended cad dak. Also if anyone has any other ideas for leveling out the truck I would appreciate them. Thanks, Anthony

I work for Dodge so I can anwser this-

Dakotas don't have torsion bars. They have have hydropunamcal-muilti-postitional struts, unless you have the Off-Road package, then you have leaf springs. To level your truck just take off your sway bar, or put some bags of cement in the bed.

Well, if Dodge Tech works for Dodge, then it must be true! or he's not very good or just talking out his Ass!

It depends on your truck. 4x4 or 2wd? A 2000 extended cab 4x4 would have torsion bars in the front with leaf springs in the rear. I believe a 2wd would have coil springs in the front with rear leafs. Not too sure of the 2003/2004 models but that would be true to everything before 2002. 4x4 = Torsion bars and 2wd = Coils.

Note: I very frequently get email from people asking about the lift kit in my ’88. Typically, I will NOT respond the emails (about 90%) that ask questions I’ve already covered on my web pages (ie. Where did you get the kit?, Who makes it?, How much did it cost?, What modifications did you have to make to get it to fit your truck?. How hard was it to install? What problems did you encounter? etc, etc...)

Im pretty sure IFS systems that use front coils do not have torsion bars...because the coils are what hold up the front.
