Anybody running thornbird tires? How well do you like them(ride wise) and how well do they wear? I am thinking about getting 30x11.5 for my dakota.

Friends don't let friends run Thornbirds. My opinions.
1. One of the coolest looking tires ever made.
2. They pack up with mud unless you have a lot of horsepower and a lot of gear to spin them fast enough to clean 'em.
3. They wear down too fast on the street.
4. Really cool sidebiters. (don't do any good, though)
5. They're Super Swampers!
6. They're Super Swampers that give Swampers a bad name.
7. They have a cool sounding hum and get you a lot of looks while you're driving.
A good all-terrain tire that looks good, wears out too quick and packs up with mud.

i run 33/12.50 thornbirds and i love them they are a good all around tire other then they suck in the rain i do most of my driving on the road but i do do alot of muddin and trail riding on the weekend and they work good on the road and they are great offroad they get through the mud very good, there not a bogger but they are better than a bfg mud terrain or something like that the only complaint i have about them is they do wear kinda fast but hell they are a mud tire not a road tire

Dont waste you money wear fast even for a mud tire and are really bad in rain. Also hard as h*ll on your truck. The BFG mud tire is good and also the Dunlop mud rover are great tires. Torn is not even all that offroad its a tuff looking tire but really is just good for show.

my Mickey Thompson Baja Claw's lasted longer than the Thornbirds, and no they weren't radials.

And Iw ould rather have the Agressive tread of the mickey over the thornbird anyday.

Atleast the mickey actually worked well.

I just went on a 900 mile trip to Charleston, S.C. in my '01 V8 reg cab Dak with 33 inch MT Baja Claw radials. Their road manners were much better than I thought and the hum on the interstate help put me to sleep while my girl drove. Driving through Charleston was really fun with a body-lifted Dak on Claws. The cobblestone streets were especially fun. I was on vacation, out of state, but we still went 4-wheelin'. The local who owned the Dixie Outfitters store in Summerville told us about a ghost light that he saw in a swamp 42 years ago. He said a red light appeared behind him, bounced 3 times and chased him away. So, naturally my girlfriend and I wanted to check out the road in the daytime before we went back at night. It was not much of a road since half of it is underwater! I got out and measured some of the mudholes and found some three feet deep in places. The first two I measured were "only" about a foot deep on the edges and 2 feet in the center. If I was running Thornbirds, I would not have even attempted running through the first two mudholes. This was South Carolina sandy mud. I made the mistake of going through the center of the first mudhole that I did not realize at the time that it was deeper than the edges. I gave it more gas, cut the wheels back toward the edge and the Baja Claws dug, grabbed, cleaned and kept us from getting stuck in a mudhole 300 miles from home. I did not try the third hole as it was 3 feet deep in places and possibly deeper. The only thing I've found so far that try to pack up my Claws is red mud here in North Carolina. Then, all I have to do is gas it a couple times and they clean out. I've seen a couple of Tacomas and a Cherokee get stuck with Thornbirds in the same place that I made it through with generic mud tires. T-birds look cool, but that's about it.

The water on "Light Road" must not have been as deep as it was about 10 days ago. I measured some places that were over three feet deep of just water, not counting the mud.
