I just remembered! There is mud pit racing somewhere between Old Fort and Marion on I think Saturdays. When I get more info, I'll post it here. Maybe we can get some Dakota.com people out there and show em how it's done.

yeah I know where it is. It is on 70 just about 5 miles from marion. I drive by it to get back from Boone. It is something like bad momma's mud sling. Me and my roommate want to go watch a mud sling. It would be awesome to see some Dakotas out there.

Cooooool! I'm gonna find out when it is, and if it has started yet for this year. I plan on taking my V8 Dak out there and showing the Ford, Chebbie, and Yota guys how it's done! I was running consistent 15.6's in the quarter before the 3-inch body lift and 33 inch Baja Claws, so maybe I might do good mud racing, too.

I also learned from my brother that there is an off roading trail just off the Parkway heading south twords Pisgah. This weekend I will make a trek out there to find it. A bunch of buddies up here wanna go see a mud sling also. Heck if you can do it beat em all.

Good to hear from you, Critter. I just talked to a friend of mine with an 8-inch lifted Dodge. He's going to ask a couple of people he knows if Mad Momma's is open yet, and what time it starts. He thinks my 4.7 Dak on 33's should do pretty good mud racing. We are planning on going Saturday if it's open yet. If we do, then there will be several lifted Dodges going. He also told me about another place to wheel past Bat Cave near Lake Lure. It's off of Boy's Camp Road. There is some good wheelin' there and a hiking trail up to a place with some great views, so bring your camera. I went back to Pinnacle Mountain Road with my girlfriend and her brother and it's pretty boring now. My Dak just goes way too good off-road now with the 33-inch Claws. I need something a bit more challenging. If your serious about going with us, call me on cell 828 777-0276. When you find out about that other trail off the Parkway that goes toward Pisgah, let me know and I'll go with you. We'll show 'em how the Dakotas.com people can 'wheel!

If anyone lives in central NC there is a mud sling the first Sunday of every month in the town of Willow Springs. Its about 30 min south of Raleigh. Just post if anyone needs directions. Most of the guys out there are pretty serious. There is a street class (36 and under I think it is) that mostly Toyatas go in. I've never seen any Dakotas enter. Almost none of the street class trucks make it all the way through. The ulimited class many trucks make it through. Alot of the ulimited class vehicals put 35s on and go in the street class so they are pretty tough to beat. If ur gonna enter a rear locker would be helpful. I've never run my truck through. i have a single cab v6, 3.55s, 31 inch bfg ATs, and stock suspension so I dont even bother but maybe I'll build a truck for it one day.

Mad Momma's Mud Sling in Marion starts Saturday. I went and checked it out last Saturday and I hate to say it, but I don't think my Dak on 33's will make it through. I threw a couple of dirt clods in the deepest part of the pits and it looked to be about 3 or 4 feet of water. I don't want water inside the cab of a 2001 Dak, so I think I'll just watch the racing.

It has been a while since I updated on my truck. It is now off road capable and in 2 weeks me and a few buddies were looking for some where that could be fun and that my 2wd could make it without having to be pulled around. Anywhere would be great, I am in boone for the semester, so anywhere within a few hours would be great. Let me know if there are any trails I might be able to do near asheville, the ones here in boone are pritty much 4wd, and I have no experience. Let me know where and how to get there and length and all that. Thanks a mil.

I'll take my stock dak offroad. But I dont want to scratch up the nice paint job. Any trails I know of are to tight with trees over hanging the trail. I just bought my dak and I kinda want to keep it clean for a bit.
