I have a 2000 single cab Dakota 4x4 with the 3.9 v6. I run 33x12.50 tires and I dont have any problems whatsoever. The power is still descent and there is lots of torque.

I have to agree, with some exceptions...

I have the v6 with 33" tires as well. If you have the 3.92 gears you will be ok. If you have the 3.55's you may want to think about gears cuz you will have a tough time on hills. I also have a v8 throttle body, cold air intake, exhaust, and a bunch of other things that helped me get some power from my v6. I am happy with my setup but I get around 13-14 mpg on interstate. This would be corrected with 4.10 gears, but I can't afford them now.

Torque-there is plenty, I off road all the time and it is more than adequate, the power issue is getting the truck up to speed and keeping it up to 75 mph in overdrive in the wind or up hills

So yeah, go for the 33's but be prepared for a change in mileage and power
and be prepared for looks of envy from other dakota drivers ;)

I agree with the above but I recommend you get the Superchips programmer to increase the HP and torque, it will also correct for larger tires read error codes. It has 2 programmable settings one for towing and one for performance.

I have 35's with 3.55's and a V-6. I agree with the above. You can do it, but if you tow or you want the most power out of your rig I'd look for some 4.56's. IMO dakotas come with to high of gearing to begin with. If they started putting 4.10's in the stock rigs they would be way peppier.

If you have a v6 with the 3.55 like i had you will have no overdrive with 33's. Put in 4.10 and you will be very happy.
