My 3" Rancho lift took two full day at a local 4x4 shop. Damn shame I don't have the know-how to lift it myself.

My mechanic did it in the 10 hours time that Rancho claims it will take in the instructions.

Doing it yourself will take longer I think.

Good luck!

Here's an update on my Rancho 3"... For those of you whom aren't aware, the Rancho 3" for 4x4's is a 3" lift in the front and a 2" block for the back. Rancho says that they do this because the stock truck sits nose low and the lift is designed to give a level appearance. When I put on 285/75/16's, I had to crank the torsion bars a bit to keep the rubbing to a minumum. This brought the front up higher than the rear. I thought about stacking a body lift, but wasn't sure I'd like the look since a taller tire would be needed to keep the lift looking porportional and I didn't want the performance loss of a taller tire. My solution: I went to my local 4x4 shop and got 4" tapered blocks and new u-bolts and brought the rear up 2 more inches than Rancho offered, then cranked the torsion bars a bit more. For about $50 more than the cost of the Rancho lift, I now have a truck lifted 4", sitting level and looking sweet with no rubbing! forexfore posted a pic of my truck and if it's cool with him, I will email him the updated pics or he can let me know how to post pics to this site and I'll get them on here myself. I have access to a stock '02 club cab Dakota and I plan on taking some side/side photos.

I did mine on my 98 Dak over a few weekends, but that wasn't working straight through. If I would have been able to work full day on it, I probably could have had the whole thing done over a three-day weekend. The key is to read the directions through a few times and compare the pictures to the underside of the truck BEFORE you start wrenching on the truck. This doesn't take long and will help speed things up if you already previewed everything you need to do. This will also help you get all your tools together so you know you have everything you need.

Just my 2/100 of a dollar, but that's what helped me.

You can send the new photo's.

I understand why you went with the 4" blocks but doing the add a leaf might be a better choice. You get 2.5" of initial lift that will sag to about 2".

When the lift is installed most shops do not put any tension on the torsion bars so the front will look low to low. THe new torsion bar bolts are allot longer and you can crank them pretty good with lots of thread left. You only need to turn them for what you need. I remeber one guy telling me the shop only tightened the bolts il they were tight. Yikes! Others say they put them back where they were when they took them off.

I to have 4" of total lift from the rancho but I used the add a leaf and not blocks. I think the larger blocks dont look right and or may cause some axel warp at some point.

Ahh, the pros and cons of everything... I went with the blocks for the $ and for the taper to keep the rear pinion lined up.
