Subject: Body AND Suspension lift?
IP: Logged

Message:
Currently I'm running a recently installed 3" PA body lift, but am wondering about future mods.

Does anyone have a body lift AND a suspension lift on their rig? what are the risks as far as damaging your vehicle? How is the steering and drive geometry affected by both lifts? Does anyone have pictures? What tires and shocks are you running?

Thanks!

suspension lift requires smaller backspacing which increases stress on wheel bearings.

Fine, but a little harder to align.

Yes.

A shorter backspace is NOT required when putting on a suspension lift. It's only needed if you want to run wider tires to keep them away from the frame and it also helps in handling and anti-tipping of the truck (gives a wider stance). Plenty guys have a 3 - 3 combo lift and run 33 x 10.5 x 15 on stock rims. The shorter backspace is fine for road driving but hurts you trail running.

Sweet....thanks for the comparison.
what could I do to minimize the stress on the bearings? Also, with the body 3" off the frame, and the frame lifted 3" (susp), can the PA nylon blocks and bolts hold up to the shift in weight with a higher center of gravity?

Has anyone considered one or both lifts as a way to resolve any Dakota/Durango ball-joint worries??

Thanks!

Neither one replaces the factory ball joints , they just allow for larger tires and wheels, which make the already bad situation worse...as far as the ball joints are concerned.
