Subject: Crucial LIFT Question!
IP: Logged

Message:
Does anyone know whether i need a lift for 31 inch tires and 13.5 inches wide? They fit on my wrangler with no lift at all. They are Prototype rims with the tires mounted already. I am thinkin it has alot of back spacing on the rim cuz they fit on my Wrangler. So any imput would be greatly appreciated. They are super swampers if it matters.
Thanks sooooo much!
I am gonna do something this weekend so it is kinda urgent. Thanks again.

Is it a 4wd or 2wd? If it's 4wd, then you don't need a lift for the 31's. If its 2wd, you need a 3" lift (body or suspension) to fit 31's.

13.5 inches wide is gonna give you all kinds of rubbing problems either way, so you need wheels with a very short backspace (so the wheels stick outside the fender to give you more clearance away from the frame). I don't know anyone personally whose gone wider than 12.5 running 33's, and even then some trimming is usually required, so I think 13.5 is gonna be a pain in the azz.

That's my .02. Have fun and good luck! Show pics when your done!!

Rub for sure
even if your backspacing was 5" then you would rub on the frame, if your backspacing is 3.75 or less you will rub on the fender. I have a 3" body lift with 31x12.5 swampers on 15x10's and i still rub.
Have fun

Absolutely rub! Two weeks ago I put 31x12.50 BFG Mud Terrains on 10" rims w/ a 3" body lift on mine and it still rubs a little @ steering lock w/ some bumps. If you do any serious off roading, you better crank the hell outta your T-Bars and do some serious fender hacking. Tell ya what though. If you pull it off its gonna look SWEET! Gimme pics...Mopartoya@hotmail.com

Hey Kyle, got any pics?
