Subject: Body Lift and 33x12.50s?

So.....Seems there are a lot of opinions...Are 305/70R16s a reality on a 2001 QC 4x4 on stock 16x8 wheels w/ Perf. Acc. 3" Body lift? I'm guessing minor trimming on front bumpers (even moving bumper up?) and it sure seems like the tires would rub on the rear fenderwells w/ that setup. Can anyone clear that up for me??? THANK YOU!!!!!!!

I took measurements off from my 11.50's with the wheels at different positions and it's close(not as close on mine due to tbars cranked) but with just a little extra torsion bar cranking, even 1/4" I think it would be fine without any rubbing IMO.

Yes they will fit. They are just a shade under a true 33x12.50. My 33's only had some very minor rubbing that I eliminated. The 305's should be fine.

Is there anyone that any of you have heard of that is running a true 33x12.50 on a 15x10 rim w/ no rubbing? I'm about to give up on the whole suspension lift thing and just get a body lift. I need new tires anyway. I have a '01 CC 4x4.

If I get 33 12.50's, I really want to put them on 10" rims. 2THEXTREM, do you think you could fit them? I noticed you have a little extra lift than most (1.5" blocks & crank'd torsion bars). By the way, I want to email you about that whole setup. I think that's what I want to do.

BJ, I know you have been looking for similar answers. I've been reading up on old posts and cant seem to fine anyone who is doing this. Probably because it won't work, but I don't want to accept that answer yet. :(

Sorry to drag this post out, but I have the same question about 325x65 R15's on 10" rims. By the way, the tires I'm interested in are the BFG M/T's. Any responce is appreciated. Thanks.

Brandon.

Well... yes and no about the 33's on 15x10's. I run them on my 2wd with 6 inches of lift (which is equal to a 3" lift on the 4x models) and they work fine. But... you must trim the fender right the first time and then it works great. Most don't want to hack off anything but it really isn't noticable and you can make it look stock if you take your time and make good cuts! Then again, I had to have 33x12.5 M/T's or 15x10's or BUST! hehe...

Here are pics if you want to see them.

I think I have seen where some have ran 33x12.50's on 10" wheels with alotta rubbing and it didn't allow much suspension compression while turning. So offroading or even a good size pothole with the wheel cranked could send you to the bodyshop and/or be putting on your spare from a sliced tire, it may look awesome but not worth the headaches IMO.

10" wheels would not fit on my truck(without some serious trimming which I won't do) unless I stuck with the 33x11.50's and kept backspacing with an inch of stock, then it's a big maybe...

I have did alot of measuring in the past few weeks because I want to get 16x10's on my 33x12.50 Xterrains but as my truck sits now it isn't gonna happen without some suspension lift:( so I will probably buy another set of 16x8 Hellcats that I sold a couple months ago(stupidly) since I was planning on getting the truckin suspension 4.5" lift before summer to run the 16x10's, oh well, we will just have to see what happens I guess.

Good-luck and be sure to post some pics when your done!

I have an 01 4x4 with a 3in body lift and 33x12.50 and they only rub a little when i make sharp turns. I have not had ant problems with them hurting anything yet on or off road(they do wear down the plastic a little on the inner fender.)

Tallquad...you ride looks PIMP! I just put on the 3" body lift on my 4x4 99 Dak and I've been trying to read all I can on wheel/tire size trimming/rubbing issues. I love the 15x10 look and it's exactly what I want to do. Can you talk to or send some pics explaining more about how you trimmed and if you've had any issues romping around on those big tires/wheels?

Where are you from? I'm from AZ and your pics look like you might be from here too.

THANKS,
Judson

Thanks for the comment JJCOLE! I live in Phoenix. The only thing I did about trimming was... trim a lot of inner plastic off and about 2" into the front lower bumper. That's about it. Then from there I just trim as I need to wherever the tire rubs. It's more like trial and error than anything. I must admit, it is probably too big of a tire for any heavy off-roading (it will rub on a big bump while turning), but I don't mind since I drive on pavement 90% of the time. ;-)

If you guys are running 33's on 10" rims with very little rubbing then share your magic with me! I tried 3 different offsets and no matter what they rub. On the road only it's ok but there is no way your gonna wheel with them unless you don't mind a few things like the fender flare being yanked off, rear corner of your fender getting creased other than that theres plenty of clearance. I only got the 10's because to me the looks just don't compare between them and the 8's. Dodge really screwed us with the design of the wheel well. If I crank my wheel all the way right or left and hit a bump the tire rubs against the rear of the fender where the flare bolts up. I forget which offset I have but the other two rubbed the crap out of the frame and inner fender.

TallQuad...What part of Phoenix are you in...I'd like to see your truck up close and see how/where you trimmed and take a look at your clearance. The 33's look so much better with 15x10's...I just wanna make sure that's what I want to do before I drop $1200 on tires and start cutting up plastic. Mail me at judsoncole@yahoo.com if you wanna get together some time...I'll buy you a beer!

Don't forget... I run a 3" Fabtech lift which uses different a-arms. The difference isn't much but my a-arms are longer and pushed out more. Really, the only secret is a nice hacksaw blade and a grinder to smoothen things out on the lower rear part of the fender well. If I get a chance I will post better pics of my wheel wells (although its not her prettiest attractions). ;-)

JJCOLE, I'm headin' to southern cal this afternoon for the weekend. I'll send you an email when I get back. Funny... with the tailgate down I get about 13 mpg. With it up, I get about 16! Go figure...
