Subject: 2" Lift Question - You Got Answers??
IP: Logged

Message:
Dogonit - I'll try one last time - I know with all the experience here that someone has installed 2" Fabtech coil springs on the front of a V8, 2wd Dak.

And I know that someone took before and after wheelwell measurements so they would know the actual results of the project, didn't they??

Soooo, if the above 2 assumtions are correct, would that someone(s) care to share the the amount of actual lift (in inches) they received by virtue of this suspension mod??

Thanks,
MD

This is a bad question and let me tell you why. The answer you get won't do you a bit of good unless the vehicle the 2" Fabtech springs were installed on is IDENTICAL to yours. The Fabtech 2" springs are generic and is only designed to be used on the I4 and V6 trucks. If you install the Fabtech 3100-1 2" lift coil spring on a Dakota that's equipped with the 5.9L you'll get less than 2" inches of lift, a whole lot less. You've got the 4.7L - 5.2L - 5.9L and all of those have different weights. Cab weight will also affect height, as will the condition of the old springs on the truck. There are too many variables to take any answer someone posts to this question seriously. I can guarantee you that if you've got a V8 you will NOT get 2" inches of additional lift beyond a "new" stock height Dakota. If your current springs have sagged a bit you might see an inch and a half to two inches but again that's not a guaranteed lift number. Most V8 guys that want 2" inches of lift should run the FTS3100-2 or FTS3100-3 spring.

Thanks, Jeff. I'm sure you are correct. Care to venture a guess about a 2000, 2wd, auto, CC, 4.7.

Thanks,
MD
