than do it............

just did it a week ago on my 97 dak..4x4 5.2 and was prolly the eisiest big mod ive ever done.

im a 18 year old kid and did it with my best friend one night in about 7 hours...every thing went as planned with no trouble..the hardest part is prolly the bumpers which isnt even that hard.

i orderd the kit from summit one morning and it came the next day.

im now rolling on 33x12.5x15 on stock wheels and love it

if you have any questions ask away i am more than happy to help.

Ok drew, i just ordered my 3" kit from 4wheelparts.com. Have the same truck you have, a 97 SLT Extended Cab 4x4. What am i in for? Im sure the bed of the truck is a no brainer but what about the front....steering arm, 4x4 shifter on the floor...? Any rubbing? I have 32's on the stock rims now and they rub the frame alittle on a full turn, no big deal. I cant wait to have 33"s on 15 x 10 rims! Thanks for any tips.

dont look at it like lifting your truck cuz its really not...your just putting spacers in your body mounts.

basiclly instructions are crap.

prep work- take of bumpers 4 bolts on front and six on back.

take out spare tire AND rod its held in with a pin.

take out the hex head screw out from the arm from the steering box its the bar that turns when you move the steering wheel.

take 4x4 shift knob off.

unhook break lines from frame

than looses moderatly all the cab mounts, take one side all the way out and jack the body up and put the spacer in couldnt be easier than do the same for the other side and than the bed.

i just cut the fan shround and riged the rear bumper with drilling new holes....hope i helped. its pretty self expainatory just locate your body mounts and go from there.

If anyone is looking for a 3" Performance Accessories body lift for a 1997-1999 4wd Dakota we've got one for sale. It's a customer return (customer owned a 2000 model) and the box is a little scratched up due to transit but it doesn't have any holes or signs of damage. We checked the contents and everything is there. We can't sell it as a new kit and just need to get rid of it. It's part number 693 and the price is $170.00 plus actual UPS Ground delivery charges from ZIP code 91006. If anyone is interested let me know.

The cheapest I've seen them on sale for was $179.99 and that was a few months ago. If someone else is selling them cheaper they must be making up the difference with shipping charges. 4WheelParts.com wants $189 plus shipping. This IS a brand new kit too. The box has a few scratches and that's it. For all intensive purposes this is a brand new kit.

Well I don't know what your problem is but it seems you've got a bone to pick with me. The actual cost on this kit is $166.47 from our distributor. Add to that the price of shipping from them to us and you are already over $170.00. I am NOT inflating the price and it's not a scam. If you don't like it you have the right to say whatever you want - but at least have the courage to post a real name and an e-mail address.

Performance Accessories has two body lifts listed for a 1992 Dakota but they only fit the 4wd models. The 642X kit is a 2" body lift that fits 1986-1996 4wd Extended Cab Dakota trucks. The 642 is a 2" body lift that fits 1986-1996 4wd standard cab Dakota trucks.

I've done two body lifts in my life now. They're both great...but basically it's just a hockey puck.
