Well, if you guys read my last post about installing longer coils you know I had some problems. What I didnt tell you is that they are the stock coils of a 2wd Ram, (I found they were 2" longer and 1/4" wider). Soooo, I took them to the suspension shop, and it took 2 1/2 hours plus $100. I was so excited when i was driving back. But when I got there, I could tell NO difference on the heigth. The guy said it was on 3/4" lift. That sux, all together this cost 120 bones. And the final results are; 3/4" hiegher $120 lighter, and a waste of two and a hlf hours of my life.
So, Joe E., Why didnt it work, the springs were 2" higher, and alot stiffer, why didnt it work?
Now I'm holding some daystar spacers in my hand. Anyone wanna tell me how to install them? Someone on my last post said they would e-mail my thiere instructions. That would help ALOT. I thank you

Also, i told my dad I was putting a 2" lift on, so for my 18th B-day (which is sunday) he ordered 30x9.50's for my truck. Will they fit? Any rubbing? They are 30x9.50-15 BF A/T. I told him they wouldnt rub at all.

Whats up dude. To be honest with ya I dont know about the springs. The fact that you used a 2wd ram spring makes it impossible for a dakota person to answer. I dont know about Rams much. I can guess that the spring, when compressed, measured out about the same as a compressed dak spring. When you measured the dak spring, was it compressed or not? If you by accident measured the ram spring unpressed, and the dak spring in its compressed position, that would account for the problems. But to be totally honest, i dont know why...
About the 2 in spacers... I bought rough countrys 2in lift. I took it to a shop and for $200. they installed it. I started to but chickened out when I heard horror stories about the install. They expected it to take an hour or so, it ended up taking them like 5 hours, or maybe even alittle more. It was like 2-3 years ago. But if you have the $$$ and time, Id take it to a shop. Other than that if you really wanna do it, you gotta take the spring out again, compressed of course, place the spacer above the coil, then reinstall the coil with the spacer above it. Sounds simple but I doubt it is.
About the 30.9.50s. You will probably have to cut some of the rear of the front fender well out. Everywhere else youll probably be fin, but just infront of the doors, will be your problem. Getting a 30 in tire on there with just a 2.25 in lift will be tight. Think of this; I have a 2in spacer lift, and a 3in body lift and still rub 31s at full steering loc. Very lightly, but it still rubs. Im about to fab up some new body mounts and relocate the mount thats behind the front tires back about 6-8 inches. That way I can clear some of the metal behind the tires, and clear 33x10.50s BFG MTs. Maybe start tomarrow.

Dont forget you have to be VERY CAREFUL and know what you are doing, a spring under tension can break an arm,or every bone in your face if it lets loose!!!
