Subject: Beating a dead horse - body lifts
IP: Logged

Message:
I know this has been done to death around here and 've read most of the threads that seemed relevant but I wanted to make sure I have it right. I have a 2003 Dak SXT 4x4 with 16" rims and stock 30" tires. I'm considering putting in a PA body lift. First some questions:

1)Does PA make a 2" Lift for my truck? I can't find anything on the website.

2)If there is a 2" lift would that give me enough clearance for 33" tires?

3)Will the stock rims and tires look horribly stupid with a 2" or 3" body lift?

Now regarding installing the lift. My understanding is that I should not have to lengthen the steering linkage and since I have an electric switch transfer case there should be any hang ups there either. Are there any other mods I should be concerned about?

Thanks,

Jimi

There is only a 3" body lift for the 00+ Dakotas. The website does not state that the 60043 kit will work with the 03, but I'm fairly cetain that it will ... 2" would not give enough clearance without some trimming and may not fit at all. Personally, I did not like the looks of the 31" tires after the body lift and I think that most guys lift so that they can put larger tires on. You can see some after body lift pictures with 31" tires by clicking on the My Dak Pics link. There is a steering extension and I believe you are right about the electric switch transfer case not being a problem. Mine is not electric, so I'm not 100% for sure.

You don't have to do anything with the electric shift. Mine is an auto. I don't really think that the truck looks all that bad with the factories. However as tracy said I did put the lift on so that I can run bigger tires.

i have a 3in bl, and fit 33x12.5 perfectly. this is on an 02 4x4. i had to do minor trimming at the front corner of the bumper, and i emphasis minor. i have them mounted on 15x8 wheels with 5.5 bs, but the stock 16x8 i believe have the same amount of backspacing so i believe the tire would be a 305/70 or a 305/75 equivalent of the 33 12x50.

i ran 33X12.5X15 on a set of Weld SS 15X10 and they worked great. some minor trimming was necesary though.

by the way, i sold the truck and the wheels will be for sale next week when i get the tires pulled off.
