Subject: cranking tortion bars.....

Okay, I couldn't find the answer to my question by doing a search. I started to crank my tortion bars today because i have 33" MTR's waiting to go on and a body lift on the way. I marked the bolts off to be sure. I turned the passenger side 2 full turns, and there is no difference in height. How many times should I have to turn to get an inch. Oh yeah, those things are hard as hell to turn without an impact wrench. A little silicone lube is helping though

1. you do have a 4x4 right?
2. try putting your truck on jacks, it will be easyier to crank them.

probably four or five turns, incrementally. just turn it a few times, drive it around the block, then remeasure. you have to load and unload the suspension.

Thanks for the info. It probably would make sense to have both wheels up in the air when turning. By the way, how hard is the front end part of installing the PA 3 inch lift? Do you have to drain the radiator?

You shouldn't have to drain the radiator, you should be able to trim/cut the piece off you need to w/o draining, but it does make it easier. Also don't cut the radiator hose and insert the metal extension sleeve unless you absolutely have to (you may have fitting problems). I didn't i just zip tied the radiator hose to the side for clearance. If you can't do this then i would recomend just buying a longer radiator hose.

I definitely have to agree with copout on not cutting the radiator hose unless absolutely necessary. I have a 4.7 and the lower hose is 1 3/4" inside diameter. The metal extension piece is 2" outside diameter. Needless to say, it doesn't fit too well. Of course, I only figured this out after I had the hose cut. And good luck finding a hose at your local auto store. I called half a dozen with no luck ... some could order and get it in 2 or 3 days. After an hour of cussing, swearing and twisting, I got it on there. This is one step I wish I would have skipped!!

If you haven't already done so and plan to drain the radiator, you might take an extra few minutes and change the t-stat. Just an idea.
