Subject: What torque on balljoint bolts?
IP: Logged

Message:
I am in the middle of lifting my 97 dakota with a 3" FabTech liftkit. However, FabTech doesn't give any specs for how tight to torque down the four bolts that hold the ball joint to the upper a-arm. What should I use? While we're at it, I replaced the lower a-arms ball joints and can't find any torque settings for how tight to tighten the new one to the a-arms. Thanks for any/all info.

I would just tighten them snug. If I remember right they came with lock washers so they shouldn't loosen. If you really want to find out the torque of anything you take the size and thread count of the bolt and most auto parts store can give a torque range for that bolt. I think the Haynes manual has that chart too. I never have had any probs and mines been together for two years now. Happy lifting.

Wouldn't want any other!
