I have a Durango and wanted to know if anyone had any advice for me before I bought one of the lifts. And if you have any advice on wheels and tires I would appreciate it.

Kyle,
Just saw your message. I placed the TC 5.5 on my '97 Dakota. I am extremely pleased. I did 4 months of research prior to purchase. 3 inches from Rancho just does not equal up to the price their asking. TC also includes two extra support bars which Rancho did not (at the time).
Parts are well built, laser cut, etc.
I previously agreed with most others that Rancho was a most reputable company (which they are), but again, TC did a fantastic job with this one.
I placed BF Mud terrains on my stock rims. The ride is great. The TC parts bolted on with ease. There was only two cuts to do, which were removing the front bump stops, which are replaced with the new TC included ones.
I actually like my stock rims, but occasionally look for others. I have not found too many companies that make wheels for the small 6 bolt pattern. However, Mickey Thompson/Alcoa has a aluminum polished wheel called "Challenger" which I seen advertised previously for around $150 a piece. They look similiar to the old style wheels known as aluminum slots.

99dakwheller: if you want to turn your dak into a
useless piece of crap, then buy the truckin suspension
lift. do a search on this board, and you'll find that no one
has anything good to say about truckin lifts no matter
what vechile you put it on. i have the 3" rancho lift, and
am very happy with it. i don't know much about the tc lift
kit other than what other guys have posted here. i don't
think anyone has anything bad to say about it, they are
a reputable company. either rancho or tc are good, just
depends on how much altitude you want. just steer
clear of truckin!!! that's my $.02!

Evan,
yeh, I forgot to add that I put 33" BFG Mud's on my ride. It appears to me that 35" tires will easily fit with the 5.5 TC lift.
I, at this time, chose not to, until I figure out if I want to spend the $$$ on different gears.
My existing gears and 318 motor should handle it, but again, I chose the 33".
I posted another message somewhere in this Forum with other info. As soon as I get caught up, I'll put a pix on this sight.

I got the truckin 6.5in. lift and have no problem with it on or off road and a few others have the same result, you need someone to install it that knows what their doing. My friend and I did it with no problems. In fact we are doing a friends 2000 Durango with the 4.5in. this afternoon.
In fact the truckin lift is pretty close in design to the T.C. lift. So to each his own.
Good luck with your decision.

V8lum,
No, I had it installed professionally.
If you are mechanically inclined, and have the tools, the lift installation should be okay.
It took my mechanic two (2) full days to install, but that was working on an 8 hour day.
There is no welding involved. There are two (2) cuts, which obviously require a torch. That's for the front bump stop brackets. (they are replaced with new ones in the kit).
The hard part, according to the mechanic, was the compression and decompression of the front end components of the truck for installation of the new parts.
Have access to a hydraulic lift?? Good idea.

I installed the Rancho lift about a year and a half ago. My dad and I did it in our garage during thanksgiving. It took about two days but that's with me working around the clock basicly and my dad working with me 2/3 of the time. I'm basicly pleased with it. Some of the pieces had to be finageled into place with a sledge up front and unfortunaltly there were some pieces that didn't fit together as nicely as I would have liked. Saying that... I haven't had a single problem with it. I haven't had any loose bolts(I've checked multiple times), wierd noises, ect... It rides so much better now. I had to crank the torsion bars down a tad more then I was supposed to get the front up and I guess the shocks are to thank for he ride, but it looks so much better. I had to buy a die-grinder b/c my intelegence fades sometimes, but it was basicly pretty straight forward. Not diffucult by anymeans. Just time consuming. No special tools (if you have a die-grinder or torch). I was very scared to cut pieces of metal off the t
