I have an 01 Dak 4x4 regular cab and went over to Summit Racing yesterday to order the Performance 3" body lift.My question is has anyone lifted an 01 yet with this kit and were there any extra mods that had to be made other than bumper relocation with the provided barckets...i.e,fuel lines, brake hoses, steering shaft,etc...Just wanna prepare myself for the worst, lol

On the 2001 Daks, you will need to lengthen the steering shaft(in kit) and use a 21" universal radiator hose(purchased seperately). The spare tire lowering system will need to be modified per instructions if you would like continued use of same(not that hard). Nothing else really needs to be altered other than lower fan shroud trimming, driver side brake line mounting(in kit) and possibly extending grounds attached to body on firewall(in kit). Relatively easy install IMO, just take your time and follow the instructions(if you can:).

Joe,they said the lift for the 01 Dak's are 185.00,why it is almost 30.00 more for the 00-01 kit over the 99 kit is beyond me.When i spoke to them last night they said that if you order it now it should be in within 7 days. The rep also said they have one in stock,I was going to go down and pick it up but I've had the damn flu all week so i just assume wait till next week for mine to come in. It's best to go down there,i never get anywhere with the morons on the phone and their website is hardly ever updated.Good luck to ya!

WITHOUT PINNING IT DOWN THEY BOTH GUESSTIMATED IT WOULD BE AROUND $400.00 INCLUDING THE KIT. AGAIN, KEEP ME POSTED ON HOW IT GOES. WOULD LOVE TO SEE IT ONCE YOU ARE DONE.

Sounds good, the bars should fit any 97-02 Dak if any of them want to see what they look like let me know and I'll take a photo and email it to them. I'd like to do the lift myself also,it will come down to having the proper tools to solidify my decision.I definitely want to get it done within the next month (weather permitting). Yep i'm a suzuki man (good job deciphering my email address, not too many people get it!,lol) I like the Yamaha R1's but I just got my Gixxer last summer so I'll have it for a while or the wife will divorce me,lol!

I ordered the Performance Accessories 3" lift from 4wheel parts just before Christmas. Just got off the phone with them a few minutes ago asking where my order was...they lost the order!!! But I should have it by Tuesday or Wednesday, and I've got a long weekend (friday-monday off) for MLK day, so I should be in the air after that. Woo Hoo!!!!

Now I just need to decide on tires...I'm going with 32's because I don't want rubbing and because I've got the 3.55 gears. Any suggestions? I'm leaning towards either the BFGoodrich AT KM (or whatever it is) or the ProComp MT. Tighter gears will come later. But everything I want to to costs so much! My wish list includes: Hanson enterprise bumper ($1200), tighter gears ($1200-1500), and a supercharger ($4000+). So many mods to do, so little cash...

Dan,

Go with 33x11.50's and you won't regret it, I have no rubbing on stock wheels and my truck still has plenty of balls with the 3.55's. I am using tires I bought at Pepboys for the winter, they are Dakota LT's and they run pretty good for $90/tire. In the springtime, I will be putting on the 305/70-16 Xterrains I got for xmas. The extra inch shouldn't noticably change your performance but it does change the appearance, believe me! Go for it!!! I want to get the Hanson Bumper too, it is sweet looking and expensive. I am adding 1.5" lift blocks to the rear with a little more cranking on the torsion bars, hell, front end parts are cheap and easy to install at my Uncles auto repair shop if stuff wears out sooner with tbars cranker up. It sure is going to look BAD though:))

Good luck and let me know if you have any questions, Bob.

Scott or Joe, I'd like to check it out when installed if possible. I live in Akron, have a 2000 cc 4x4 and have always been a little nervous about the body lift thing. I'd like to get some 32's or 33's under mine at some point but not sure if I will wait for a suspension lift or maybe go for the body lift. How it looks and the difficulty of installation might help me make up my mind.

I just spoke to a guy at 4 whell part wholesalers up in Parma,he said he would install at 50% for anyone for this month only.So with the 3" lift installed it's 400.00 and change.I might go that route, saves me from freezing my a$$ off doing it myself. As for tires I'd go with the pro Comp 33" muds...I just like the look of them.By the way I have 16" rims on my Dak,will it effect anything if I go with 15x10 with 33's? The same place that will do the lift has some fantastic wheel/tire packages. For instance... (4) 33" pro comp muds with American eagle 589's are going for roughly 900.00. They look sweet as hell!!!

Scott,

From what I have read on this website, everyone who has tried 10" wide wheels with 33x12.50's(especially highly aggressive or knobby tires) have had severe rubbing problem at bottom of front fender and against frame at almost full lock. 33x11.50's may help some with this, but you will likely still be trimming front bumper and need to install bump stops on steering reducing your turning radius. Although a limited selection is available for us of 15x8/16x8 wheels with nearly the same offset as factory wheels, appears they are the only wheels that you can fit 33x12.50's with minimal rubbing and some or no trimming of bumper. Since offset plays a big part in this too, I suggest you do a search of prior threads using the keywords, "wheel offset". You should find some threads on the 15x8 American Eagle 589's with 33x12.50's and problems with rubbing due to their offset difference from factory wheels causing them to stick out further which looks cool but can require much more bumper trimming. Until a suspension lift comes out for us 2000+ Dak owners, we will be limited to using 15x8 wheels if you want to run 33's it seems. If you speak with the pros at 4 wheel parts, they may be able to tell you differently from their experiences, if so, let us know which 15x10 wheel/33x12.50 tire combo work best after 3" body lift installed. $400 is a very good deal for body lift and install, local shops around here charge $500+. I have charged about $400-$450 myself depending on the year of vehicle and work involved. It can take a full day even with experience, air tools and hydralic lift.

Thanks for the info,it's guys like you that make this site so good cuz I'd hate to spend the money and end up with a project that's non-functional.It looks like I'll probably go with the 15x8 with 33's.Yeah I thought the install deal was good myself, but they said it's just for january then it goes up to 400 just for installation.I'm sure i could do it but as we all know without the proper tools any job this involved is gonna suck!By the way what make of tire is your 33's??

I am using 285/75-16(33x11.50) Futura Dakota LT from Pepboys, they were cheap for this size tire @ $89.99/each and seem to work pretty good in mud/snow and aren't too loud on the road at highway speeds, good deal for the $$. For xmas I got a set of 305/70-16(33x12.50)ProComp Xterrains mounted to 16x8 Centerline Hellcats that I will be putting on once weather gets better, roadsalt ruins everything in NY:( If you can afford the extra $$, I can tell you that 16's look way better than 15's with bigger tires IMO. It was like an extra $200 for the wheel/tire set to go from 15's to 16's, not a huge difference when you are dropping that much cash anyway, just save an extra month or two, you won't regret it. Just take a look at the 15" wheels on the 97-2000 Daks and look at yours, not only is the styling improved, the larger rim just plain looks better IMO. Make sure you have some pics ready when it's done so we can take a look!

Im still waiting on some money to come in to do my body lift but when i do i will post it. I am going to put BF All-Terains 285/75R16 on my factory 16x8 rims. I cant wait till it is at least a little higher. Want to be next to a Superduty or Dodge Ram and not have to look up at him with his stock ride. I wanted to do the install myself as i have a small machine shop and space but i do not have the proper lifts so i might have to go out and have someone do it for me. O well. And u guys A&W is better than Winks. at least on the food part. Not to mention is it only about 3-4 mins from my shop. B-Town about 20 mins. But seen some sweet cars and trucks at the B-Town Winks. Green's winks just sucks.
