Subject: Tow hitch and body lift question?
IP: Logged

Message:
I have a 3" body lift and I am wondering how it will effect getting a tow hitch. Will it require a custom install or can Uhaul do it?

it will mount fine. but since it mounts to your frame it will appear a lot lower than it should be.

actually, i'm glad mine stayed where it was originally. it makes towing much easier. also, you really don't notice it.

I know it will be lower because its attatched to the frame. But can't I have it mounted so it sits up higher so its closer to the bumper.

You could , but it would have to fabricated , as far as I know there is no kit or pre-made brackets than can be bought to do it.

One thought that comes to mind is repace it with one of those "hidden hitches" that the low rider guys use. They are made to tuck up under a roll pan , which should be around 3in. I think. It would be nice to find one locally and try it before you have to buy it.

Thanks. I sent an email to custom motor sports to see if they can do it for me.

I had a minor idea. My hitch bolts to the bottom of the frame ends. What if I bolted it to the top of the frame ends? That raise it 3in or more. Just an idea.
Thanks
