Subject: differ between a body lift and lift kits
IP: Logged

Message:
Hey guys,
I have a question about lifting kits. Every where I look ( on-line that is) I see lift kits for sale but the web sites have them seperated like body lift kit in one link and lift kits in another, are they two different things or the same? Also, how much work goes into installing a kit like that and do the kits come with all the stuff you need to the job. You see I just bought a 1990 Dodge Dakota and I'm new to all this. HELP?

OK, OK, OK. Hopefully I can help you out before anyone gets on here and flames you. First, welcome. Second, do a search in the forum for key words such as "lift", "body lift", "suspension lift". You'll find way more info than you'll ever need. This topic has been posted on more than you care to know about.

Now a body lift is the easiest/cheapest lift you'll find. It bascially raises the body up off of the frame. Usually 3" is the most popular. This will allow you to clear larger tires.

A suspension lift changes the geometry of the suspension and all of the components. This lift is very expensive and normal shadedtree mechanics can't do the lift themselves and is expensive to pay someone to put on for you.

My advice is to do a search on the forums and I'm sure all of your questions will be answered.
