 Subject: 3" Body Lift Install

I've never done a body lift on my own, but I have a 2001 Dodge Dakota CC 4.7L V8. I want to install the Fabtech 3" Body lift, has anyone done this,... is it relatively easy to do on my own... any pointers

"search archives"
All kinds of info on installing body lifts, what tires/wheels work with 3" body lifts, pros/cons of body lifts, etc etc etc etc.
That's a good place to start. Might not even have to perform the difficult task of searching archives ... might even be 5-10 posts on body lifts right down below this post!

nick, took me about a good 12-14 hours by myself, you'll need 2 jack stands, a good sturdy floor jack, a large half inch drive ratchet, small quarter inch drive ratchet, with various metric and standard sockets, An impact (air)wrench with 8" extender saved me a lot of time and bloody knuckles, a mechanics creeper helped also since i had no one to hand me tools i did ALOT of ducking in and out from under the truck, follow all directions and have a twelve pack of your favorite beer handy, start early! (work that is) you'll need a couple beers before noon though. and a pizza or some subway sandwiches. all in all, you will be sooooo glad you did it all yourself, and you can thank your friends for not getting in the way. and you can spend the money you saved on the istallation on gas, cause you'll definatly want to drive all around town and compare your trucks hight to every other full size on the road! also, if you go to www.truckn.com you can pick up a couple of 2" lift coils for about $90 bucks and put another 2" up under the front end, gives more tire clearance and you might want to buy some new shocks too if you plan on taking it off road. i got the 2" fabtech suspension kit (what a waste of money, $300 bucks)because all you get with the 2" sus. lift "kit" is springs and 4 shocks. and i got the 3" performance accesories body lift for $160 somthing. I bought some 32" tires from my roomate for $120 and some new wheels from discount tire. all in all I spent $460 on the lift and $680 on wheels and tires, so just over $1100 total. it looks soooo sweet now. I'm gonna add a roll pan where the bumper was and some gap guards, tint the windows and apply some red racing stripes. trucks black, and i removed the dakot sport decals. well, if any further questions, gimme a holler at dodgeit_97@yahoo.com
oh by the way, if you get a 3" suspension lift from www.truckn.com, you'll have to buy new upper control arms wich can be baught there also for about $200 and you'll need to buy rims with a 3.75 backspacing. also, i've heard that the stuff at www.truckn.com wasnt too reliable, but thats just hearsay. good luck

HELP!!! I'm looking for a set of headers for my 01' Dodge Dakota. I have the 4.7 V8 engine, manual tranny. If anyone has any ideas please let me know. Also, if anyone has links to truck accersory pages other than JCWhitney, please let me know. Thanx
