Subject: Getting Ready To Lift...a Few Quck Q's.

Wierd...I just posted this a few minutes ago, but it's not showing up. Oh well, I'll try it again.

I'm about to do the 3" PA body lift. I'll be slapping on 15x8 AE 589s and 33x12.50 BFGs. I also want to do a few small things to it while I've got it off the road and the tools out. But I've got a few questions. Maybe someone can help me out...

1] With this wheele and tire combination, will I be able to run mud flaps on all 4 fenders? I've got the fender flares already and I want to get a set of the molded mud flaps from the dealership. Does anyone know if I can still run these with the bigger tires or is someone already running with these on? I'm not sure if they will get in the way.

2] Spare tire - can I fit a 33x12.50 BFG where the stock spare tire sits right now?

3] Exhaust - I want some dual exhaust. I was thinking about getting a cat back y pipe and dumping the pipes out of the side like factory, but on both sides. Does anybody run this sort of setup?

Thanks,
Mark

Running 33's on a body lift will rub so I think the mud flaps could be a problem. The rims in my opinion are not the right rims to run. With the 3" suspension lift I just put on I tried out my buddies AE589's with 32's and they rubbed on the fender flare. Now I prolly could have trimmed it to stop but they were not mine and it just confirmed that I do not wnat these rims plus everyone has them.

Yes a 33" spare will fit on a club and a reg cab but I think a quad will not but if you have the dual setup put on then you better make sure they route the pipes right. I only have about 1" clearance between the tire and the pipes and the tire rest against the hitch mount bar. Go to my link and you will find many photo's of my setup and see how it looks.

Yes I run dual out the side but not a cat back. I have a Flowmaster 40series with a added HI flow cat. This is a great combo. I noticed a differnce with each install since I did each at different times.

I am a V6 3.9 4x4 club cab.

As long as you are ready to trim you will get the tires to work. I think a rim with maybe 4.5" of BS would work better. Just my opinion since I have run many different tire / rim combo's with 33's and no lift. Stock BS is 5.5" the AE589 are 3.5" of BS. This changes the whole tire turn radius and make them stick out from the wheel wells noticably.

That is what I know.

Hey forexfour,

Thanks for the response. I've been following your progress with the Rancho lift. I wish I had the $$, knowhow, and everything else it takes to get that lift. It looks great.

As for the spare tire, it looks like I'm outta luck there cause I do have a QC. Oh well. And the tire issue...I plan on crankin the the torsion bars for a little more height. And I have a friend that works at a bodyshop that offered to do all the trimming for free if he could use my truck in an ad for the shop. And he's good so I know he'll make it look great. Plus I'll never see any offroading like you do. I was looking at all the videos and I'm impressed. But I'll never do any of that extreme atriculation stuff. I'm mainly going for the look. I love the way they look with bigger/wider tires. Call me a puss for not workin her like you do, but maybe when she's got some age on her I will. Besides, by then maybe it will be a little more affordable for the suspension lift and my pockets will have a little more $$ in them.

Anyways, thanks again

Marty

I really do not work it that hard but when I want to run articulation I do. Most of the wheelin I do is pretty tame. I do not want to tear my truck up! But I also am not afraid to pound the pedal to the floor and attempt a hill I know I will not make.

I hope the info helps but I really would not run the AE589's. I put my 33 mt's on my buddies Quad cab. He has the torsion bars cranked and some blocks in back. The 33's on stock rims did not rub like his 32's on AE589's do. He has the front facia trimmed a little and the rears trimmed. My input would be stay on stock and run your 33's and trim. Your trimming will stay within the wheel well black stuff and not the fender flares.

Your welcome for my input although some may dispute it. But I have proved it to myself and that is all that matters.

Chris
