Thanks for the praises! It was alot of work and many bloody knuckles to get just 3" inches higher than a stock 4x4, but well worth it. I think it's funny how in the pictures the 33's don't look that big! Boys and our toys... hehe!

As for the lift combo Trevor:
3" Perf. Acc. Body Lift ($180)
3" Fabtech Suspension Lift ($760)
Pain and suffering... priceless ;-)

I second Knobbyman's statement.
BUT OMG dude, I was gonna settle for the leveling kit with 3" body til I saw those pics. Now, I'm willing to spend the extra grand just to look that good.
DAMMNIT!!!!! That means I have to wait LONGER!!!!
Thanks for the encouragement,
Matt

BTW, TallQuad is there any welding involved with the Fabtech kit and what difficulties did you run into. I pretty much don't know squat about trucks, but I can't afford to have someone install the lift for me so any help would be appreciated.

TallQuad,

You're truck looks awesome. I've got a few questions....

1. Where did you buy the Fabtech kit?
2. Which part number or model/year did you order it for (since they haven't released one for 2001-2002 that I know of)?
3. If it isn't specifically made for the 2001-2002, did it affect alignment ability?
4. Does the Add-a-leaf actually raise the back end any since the axle is above the leaf springs? If so, how much?

Thanks,
Dallas

Answers to all:

a)Welding...No
b)Springs are a pain to install even when compressed (check out my post "Finished Lift... 33's on 2wd")

1)JCWhitney.com
2)47ZX4305UF (97-00 V8)
3)No, it works fine/aligns fine
4)Yes, it leveled the rear

Have fun!! :-)

I have a 2000 V6 Auto. I read somewhere that I couldn't install a body lift with an auto. Is this true? And I heard the Fabtech kit didn't align properly. You said it aligns fine but is it perfect? What type/size wheels and backspacing did you use? What else has to be done with the body lift as far as relocation of parts, cutting things, etc? Have you taken it offroad and if so how does it handle? What about on the road? Big affect on your MPG?

If you cant do a body lift with an auto then I'm in big trouble.

If its a 97 or newer Dak not really any fabicating or cutting to do with a Performance Accessories kit. You just bolt everything on. Weld in the transfer case lever extension on 97 to 2000's and your done (no lever for 01). Body lift doesnt change your handling on or off road at all.

I had people tell me NOTHING would work on my truck because its a 2002! I guess I'm in big trouble, too.

As for the Fabtech aligning right, the shop did have some problems because it's not a common setup. But I assure you they got it figured out and it's driving great (same as stock). The Fabtech kit IS stiffer and travel is decreased when the a-arms go down so ride does suffer a bit. I do feel the 4x4's have a much better setup than a lifted 2wd, but thats just from what I've seen.

Great looking truck Tallquad! I have a 2000 Quad 4x4 and I want to lift it. I wasn't sure how it would look until now. I wanted to run the same tire wheel combo that you have 33 on 15x10 inch wheels. I think I had read here that your riding 3 inches above a 4x4's stock height? I want to get a tuff country lift and it being 5.5 inches I figured that since you only had to do a little fender trimming and with me already having some height and 5.5 inches above that would give me plenty of clearance with no rubbing and hopefully no fender trimming. For some reason though the Tuff Country kit is only listed for 97 to 99 I think, and I am not really sure if there were some kind of changes made to the suspension or something in 00 or not. I have the 4.7 Auto with a 3.55 and I'm not sure how well the 33's would work out with the 3.55 so I'm probably looking at a gearing change also. Anyways GREAT looking truck and seeing pics of yours gives me confidence that mine can turn out just as good!

Thanks Jeff! It does kinda suck that there isn't a lift (yet) for the newer Dakota 4x4's. BTW, the Tuff Country won't fit because Dodge changed the daks to rack and pinion steering. So the only option you have on a 4x is a body lift. There is A LOT of guys running them and I know that if there was a suspension lift out, they would get it in a heart beat! But your right, 5.5 inches will clear 33's no prob. If you haven't already, look at some of the readers rides (ie, Hawkeye, Blizzard, Viper...) they all have 4x4's with 3" body lifts and 33's/32's. You might like their set-ups if you don't want to wait for a lift to come out! :- )
