 Subject: tie rods need replaceing after 37k miles

I just took my truck to the shop to have my alignment done, and now I;m told my tie rods are worn and need replaceing. obviuosly this is a wear item but after only 37,000miles should they go out this early?
the shop said it's a common thing with dodges and they will put some heavy duty ones on to try and keep it from happening again.
just trying to see if this is common or what.

just got it back it was 357.75 for alignment and tierod replacement.

Ouch..that's alot.....alignment is usually from 40 to 50 dollars. I wouldn't think the rods would go for over $75...so how in the world did they get a quote like that? You live in cally?
