By disconnecting the battery for the install, it'll be reset to it's factory defaults if you simply turn the key on once while it's disconnected.

Now, I think you're wondering about a performance flash for that puppy. The short answer is no, you'll still see gains, and as the PCM learns the newer parts and your driving habits, it gets a little better.

However, if you want even slightly more HP and tq, then you can also have it flashed.

But be careful, there are VERY FEW upgrades, that have a dyno proven increase!

If you have an auto tranny, it may change shift points some. The 2000's have more to offer, than the 2001+.

Godd luck, research the h*ll out of the cam install before you go about it.

Kewl,

Mine, as others, run just fine with the HO cams and intake. I'd like to get it reflashed, but so far really even seen any numbers that would be worth it. AFWIW, do't even try a Jet chip, unless you get on for about $20.

My HO cams and HO intake, cost me ~$220 in parts, for everything.

I've tried a jet chip. Not worth it unless you buy it used and dirt cheap.

Perhaps you should let those who have tried said chip to give their opinion, rather than spewing your second hand hearsay whenever a comment about the Jet Chip is made? You've been doing it on here for at least a year now. If I didn't know any better, and I do, I'd say you were a competitor and/or jealous, what with all your Jet Chip sucks comments. I don't post about how much headers suck on a 4.7 because I've never tried it. Food for thought. I know you have it in you. Play safe.

Ok, well my experience is that the Jet Stage 2 chip does nothing noticable on a 4.7. I had mine for over a year and did lots of testing with and without. In the end I finally removed it because it actually seemed to be slightly slower with the chip.

Afterwards, I looked again on the Jet site and noticed that they provide the same chip for both 5.9 and the 4.7. If I had known this prior to purchasing, I would not have bought it because the 4.7 uses a different crank signal than the 5.9 so the chip cannot be advancing timing.
