I was looking thru this weekend's auto section and there is an article titled "Toyota Tacoma will grow from compact to mid-size for 2005".
They featured the Tacoma X-Runner with a 240-hp
V-6 with 275 lb.-ft. of torque with a six-speed manual. It does 0-60 in 7 seconds with an optional supercharger bumping it up to 300hp and shaving more than a second off of the 0-60 time.
They said that "it's road-holding performance was consistently better in head to head testing with the Nissan 350Z, the vehicle used to benchmark the X-Runner's performance."

Time for Dodge to get with the program!
That S/C V6 probably wont tow like a V8 but unloaded it could have some zip.

I assume Nissan will throw on a turbo setup again on the Z ???

Dodge has been way ahead of the curve with the Dakota in the mid-sized truck market. This article caught my attention since the Tacoma will be mid-sized in 05. First it was Chevy, now Toyota offering mid-sized trucks that will compete for sales with the Dakota, I wonder if the other auto-manufacturers will follow suit?
However this could be a good thing for us Dakota owners. Maybe Dodge will answer back with that Hemi powered Dakota we all have been dreaming of. As far as the Tacoma there will be 3 different models available, the X-Runner is the most potent of the 3, it has a 4.0 liter V-6. It also comes with a hood scoop, 18 inch wheels,
"x-braced" reinforced frame, beefy stabilizer bars, firmer bushings, and standard lsd. They didn't give a base price but I imagine for the supercharged one it will be more expensive than our Dakota's. As far as the 350Z yeah I would imagine they will offer a turbo setup.
