Subject: 4.7 o2 sensors question
IP: Logged

Message:
since i have my entire exhaust off for the T56 swap, i am going to redo the front half of my exhaust.

What i have currently is crappy 2.5" pipe CRUSH bent from the stock y-pipe to 3" section of my exhaust. the 2.5" section replaces the 3rd cat.

New plans: Come off the stock headers with 2.25" pipe go to a new y-pipe to 3", one high-flow cat then use my old 3" section to muffler.

My dilema: O2 sensors. Can i just run 1 before the new cat and 1 after, then just join the signal wires to simulate having both sets of them? I realize that mine are the 4 wire heated ones, so i will only join the 1 signal wire and both ground wires.

Is there going to be a resistance issue? If not, does anyone know off the top of their head which wire on the 02 sensor is the signal wire, white or blue?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

MoFinWiley1;
I don't know if you can splice the two signal wires together to act as one sensor or not. I do know that the signal wire for the upstream o2 sensor on the driver's side goes to pin 24 on the C1 black connector, Black/Dark Green wire. The signal wire for the upstream o2 sensor on the passenger's side is LG/RD. This is for a '02 model year.
Yeah, you need to get rid of that stock 'Y' pipe because it is so small and restrictive.

Hope this helps, let me know if works...

What year is your truck? I have been trying to put an o2 simm on my 2003 Ram with the 4.7 for a few days and can't get it to work. The two black wires are the heater wires, the white wire is the signal wire, and the blue wire is the signal ground. Everything seems to work and the truck runs fine but the MIL is still on. It shows too much voltage for the downstream oxygen sensor. I only have one factory cat with a pre and post sensor. I have a guy working on making me a different simm that may work. Hope this helps.

After talking to a buddy who knows alot more about this kind of stuff than i do, we decided to run all the sensors in the 3" pipe but just use taller bungs so that they dont protrude to far into the pipe.

Thanks for the help though
