Subject: Are Duals Necessary
IP: Logged

Message:
I have a 3.9 and was wondering if a single pipe off of Flowmaster 40 would benefit me. The concern is I am adding an intake and want to get the most from intake/exhaust setup. For all who are going to say V6 board, I already did, just want some more input. I am worried about low-end power loss, becuase I usually don't ride around in my truck pulling 3,000+ rpm's. I was wondering if the single pipe would get me both the sound and power of a dual setup...I don't want to sound ricey.

Duals are for those that wish to extract much more power (combined with several other mods) from their engine. In your case, stick with a single exhaust outlet...

True Dual exhaust and removed third cat
HO Cams & HO Intake
FASTMAN 70mm TB
Autolite 3923 Plugs
TPS @ .76 VDC
IAT Adjuster Mod
Custom tranny VB Mod
Demon long tube headers
Ported/polished heads w/ 1.92" Intake/1.60" Exhaust Valves
One dead stock LSD unit (POS...)

I heard that a Single 3 Inch exhaust was practically just as effective as a dual exhaust system.

driesen, as I've stated before...

It's always going to depend on your mods and what goals you want to accomplish.
