Anybody with experience (good, bad, no change) with Magnum Performance (fastdodge.com) throttle Body?

I'm thinking about getting a Gen II, with the Modified Mystery Shaft.

I have a magnum tb for a 2000 4.7
and dollar for dollar i have to say
it was money down the tube. it is no better than any other tb on the market it only cost more..
with the money you save you could do at least two other upgrades and more than make up for any edge the magnum unit has on the competition.on the the same note you wouldnt have to talk to jules the owner/asshole that runs the place. And last but not least it only took him 6&1/2 months to get the tb to me.

I've got a Flow Metrics 52mm TB and must say it KICKS ASS. VERY well designed, easy install, perfect fit, I only wish they included the "S" rod to replace the factory hunk of shit. Anyone no where I can get a solid Steel or Aluminum "S" for it please let me know at shawn@bowen.com.

Many Thanks,

Do not make this purchase without talking to other members of this site, and the DML. The Magnum Performance throttle bodies do not have a good reputation with the Dakota crowd. Go with Flowmetrics or Holley.

You noticed that about Jules too huh sak? Shawn, how're the new rollers? Anybody tried TBs from Hughes? They seem very reasonable and their sight is pretty good at enlightening the uneducated (or maybe I'm the only one in that catagory)!

I purchased a "Magnum Performance V6 Special" for my Dakota over two years ago...and paid up the a$$ for it ($1000). It's a beautiful piece of hand work and worked very well as compared to a stock V6 throttle body...but the Flometrics kicked its butt on the Dyno, at the track, and with or without the Supercharger...and it costed less than 1/2 as much.

The Hughes TB's are an indirect copy of the Fastman Throttle bodies. Nothing fancy about them.

Dan (Fastman) makes an excellent throttle body for the more budget minded...it's also a serious contender at the track.

what is the best way to loosen a bolt holding the throttle cables and cruise cable from the 4.7L engine. I notice the factory pre-striped my the bolt near the firewall. I was thinking about filing the bolt so that I can use a 7mm socket to get it off. Too bad the intake is plastic or I would try to heat it loose

Check out the F&B. It is hands down the best, and you get to keep your old one in case you ever have a problem. flowmetrics.com

Guys, I mentioned this in another room, stay away from the Hughes TB's! I got one and it was junk! The shaft would deflect downward whenever the engine was running and the blades would get wedged in the bores sticking the throttle wide open.Very dangerous! Thank God for my clutch, If I'd had an automatic it might have gotten ugly. Sent it back as defective and the jerk still charged me $68 restocking charge!

Sounds to me like you had a problem with the TB. Did you ask for another one, or to have that one fixed? I have never heard of anyone having problems with Hughes Engines service. I also would have questioned the $68 restocking fee.

I just received my 52 mm Holley Throttle body yesterday.

It is beautiful. Highly polished with red butterflies. A quality, solid billet product with much more mass and smooth lines than the cheesy (by comparison) OEM unit.

Anyway, I was so excited, I had to install it last night. By the time I had to go to Sears and get a 25 MM TORX socket (required tool), eat dinner with the family, etc, I started installation at 9:00 (on the driveway with work lights).

Install was pretty easy and FUN. I felt like a master mechanic even though all I was doing was a bolt on thing. I spent about 1.5 hours and got everthing changed out, linkage bracket modified, and all bolts screws & electrical connections tightened.

Then I went to hook up the three throttle cables and guess what. Holley had left off one of the three cable connection pins. Well fine.

I had to remove the dang thing and re install the OEM unit. It was about 11:30 when I finished up.

I called Holley today and they said that DODGE changed models in mid stream, blah blah blah.

Truck Performance is sending me a new replacment unit and I'm returning defective one.

Next installation should be a breeze!!!

Has anyone installed the Holley 52mm on a 5.9? If so, how did it perform??
