Well since I'm getting ready to do this mod to my 99 3.9, my dumb question is why don't you have to do a valve lash adjustment? I can just bolt these things on until tight and that's it? Wow.

I had a set of the HS 1.7's on my truck last year but sold them because I needed the money to pay off some unexpected bills. I liked the rockers a lot because it increased power across the entire rpm band and even filled in some bottom end, whereas many of my other parts (M1, 52mm throttle body, etc) seemed to take away from the bottom end and increase on the top end. I noticed a significant loss in power when I took them out - the claims of 15rwhp would be easy to achieve.

Installation with the HS's is very easy since they don't require alt valve lash adjustment. I think a first-timer would take about 2 hours to install at most, when I took mine out I had them done in about 30 minutes.

Because the Harland Sharp roller rockers were designed with the lash setting built into the rocker, just like millions of sets of factory roller rockers. Only the center-post aftermarket adjustable roller rockers require valve lash adjustment.

As for the installation, yes - bolt them down to the proper ft.lb specifications and you're done, no adjustments necessary.

There is a V6 kit available as well, contact John for details.

The Harland Sharp non-adjustable roller rockers fit underneath the stock valve covers with no modifications necessary.

You can see generic pictures of Harland Sharp roller rockers at their website www.harlandsharp.com. I have some pictures leftover from when I had my set installed if you'd like an accurate picture of them in a Dakota R/T - e-mail me and I'll forward them over.

Non-Adjustables are much easier to install and do not require valve lash adjustment after installation (some people can nail the lash on adjustable rockers the first time but most people new to the procedure have to go back in at least one more time to adjust them)

As stated up top, the non-adjustable rockers do not require guideplates or studs, only center-post adjustable rockers need them to prevent drift at higher rpm's.

If anyone has any other questions about the differences in technology between non-adjustable or adjustable rockers please contact John Mercedes at the contacts above.

I called and talked to John this morning. What a really nice guy. Told me a good story about the HS Rockers. He designed them specifically for the dodge engine and submitted it to Crower and some other manufactuer's and they laughed at him and said there is no money in Mopars. I am sure we can all relate to that statement when we go looking for performance part for our rides. Anyway, he submitted it to Harland Sharp and they said yes to Johns design and they are really taking off for both John and Harland Sharp. WHO'S LAUGHIN' NOW!!! Just my plug for John and East Coast R/T. Keep up the good honest work. We need more people like you in the business taking care of us Mopar fans. Anyone who needs his address, just let me know. I have it. Sent hime a M/O for my set of 1.7's.

from what i'm gathering 1.7 rockers are big bang for the buck...i'm just starting to get parts together for my stock '94 5.2. will i benefit from them by just adding '92 exhaust manifolds with possibly 3" cat and pipes,a 50mm throttle body and 19# injectors. should i be concerned about push-rods at all? i have purchased
a rebuilt set of heads and may clean it up some.any other suggestions would be appreciated.

I have a buddy that's an old Mopar nut and he's telling me the 1.7's would be best used on just the exhaust valves. I know in the past on bikes, I have found some need more intake cam and others need more exhaust cam, but doing both usually makes dips somewhere. Any truth to it on the 318 Mag? I could sooner swing a deal on these if I found a buddy going 1/2 with me on it.

Or, 1.6 IN and 1.7 EX ?

Thoughts?

Wal
