Yes I should have specified, S-10s with factory or near factory equipement. We are talking about stock specs here.
My friend had a 88 S-10 with an old 427ci and camaro drivline. It sertainly was fast on but couldn't take a corner, pothole, driveway or be driven on anything other than dry roads.
Also above 120km/h the dam thing felt like it was going to fly apart.
I seem to remember the hood latch always failing and sending the hood through the windsheild,(happened 3 times) funny.
When I got my dakota he sold his truck, he couldn't beleive the ride and the A/C and the room inside and the fact that I wasn't that much slower.
Also I didn't need to run on premium in the dakota, looked way better and didn't need to spend every other weekend in the shop trying to hold it together.
You obviously are smarter than GM though, you realised that V8s fit in S-10s. GM builds a bigger truck then tells us it can't even fit a 6 in it.
How do you feel about the Stock S-10s? Or the new 5 cylinder Colorados? Will they beat me?
I have beaten a slew of V8 s-10 hick trucks around here. only the ones that have tubed the frame for traction have showed me the tail.

My truck can take a corner because the small block is I'm guessing about 100-150 lbs lighter than the big block and even lighter with aluminum heads.Those hick v8 s-10's are probably stock motors though. They can range from 150hp 305's to 235hp 350's. What do you have done to your truck. What sort of power you makin? I know those trucks are pretty quick, expecially the ones with quadradrive.Hook and Go lol. My uncle has a Laredo with this and the 4.7 and hammers 5.0's.And intense dak, I would race you but I live in Winnipeg Manitoba Canada. Its quite the treck. Can't drive my truck now and its -50 with the windchill tonight. You would beat the colorado I'm sure.

i just got it in and its got some goodies... but probably around tax time i am gonna put a 440 crank in it and make it a 451
I think the only good S10 is one with a V8 in it... why be stock? hell, i didnt want to put a 5.2 or 5.9 in my truck because these things come with those. If i wanted one of those, i woulda bought it in the first place.

I am not shaking in my boots, why you ask, because that 400 big block probably doesn't even have as much hp as I have, the motors heavier, I have aluminum heads and my truck is 1000 pounds lighter. Trans brake so I can launch hard. What the hell does that tell you. Oh yah your a moron.

i dont think you know how much my truck weighs and i havent told you what i have done to the 400
i'll say this though... my truck sits higher off the ground with the big block then with the V6 that was in there... my truck isnt stock dood.

Does it go faster without the hay bales in the
bed?
You put a trans brake on a TH700R?

Hey IntenseDak39, do you have tracktion problems with that beast? your truck sounds like it might pull off low 11s, what are you getting. Go easy on those 350 boys, they dont know any better.
451s Are an excellent race platfmor, the 400 is already about the "lightest Big Block", and with The right heads, cam, and crank they are the best of both worlds in my opinion.

yeah... but you jumped the to conclusions about my dak. Hell, at first you didnt even know what motor i have!
i would guess that my truck weighs around 3300 lbs.. seriously. it sits higher up then with the V6 because i have done a lot more weight cutting since then. Only thing is you have an old S-dime that was stripped down to begin with... no offense but those truck dont have any meat to em.
I know 350's are fun motors to play with just the torque of a big block is probably gonna make up for a lot of it. My brother and i built a nice 357 (that's 350 + .040, right?) with Sportsman II heads, crane camshaft, 1.6 roller lifters, 3500 stall and a lot more goodies to list right now... ran 11's in his '79 Z28.. which probably weighed more than our trucks.

357 s10. I have a drop in K&N and Dual exhaust. Some 4.7Ls in the Jeeps have higher output than the Dakotas.
I have raced my friend's 5.0 GT Mustang while I was stock and he had, Intake synthetic and 94 octane. Had him buy a half carlength right up untill 135-140 km/h (I'm in canada too) then wind drag started to hurt me and he passed me. If it had of been a shorter race I would have been ahead but we had set on a distance to finish.
