Don't replace the plenum gasket with another gasket, use "The Right Stuff" or Copper RTV. Much better in the long run! I put in new bolts all the way around.

Replacing the intake bolts is a new one on me, but I know this has been done on head bolts of other engines. Can't find anything on it in the FSM or Mopar Performance Magnum Engines book, but I just may not have seen it yet. Can anyone point out where it says the intake bolts are of the single use variety?

Intake manifold and belly pan bolts are low tension. As long as they are not corroded, I would not be afraid to re-use them. The belly pan bolts should have a star lock washer (not split) and some lock tite. It's just an access cover. But you don't want any bolts to fall out.

Dodge makes a replacement plenum and slightly longer bolts in a kit. Do use loctite and the right stuff on the gasket. I went with an ASP replacement plenum. A little more expensive but well worth it. Good luck.

The bolts are what they call torque to yield style bolts. They actually stretch when you tighten them.
If stretched to much they are prone to breaking. I have reused them without problems but i usually replace them when i do other peoples vehicles. As far as using new bolts on the belly pan...the new bolts from the dealer have thread locker on them to stop them from backing off. Also the new style gasket is a rubber coated metal shim type gasket that does not blow out like the original ( paper style ). Dealer also recommends a new belly pan. Total parts from dealer for everything is about $120.00.

That's what I mean. Usually, there's a big message somewhere in the manuals about torque once style bolts, and they're typically the head bolts on 4-bangers and who knows what else, but I've yet to see anything of the sort on these engines. Looking at the belly pan bolts, they look like you'd strip the threads before they'd break. Dan, don't let the torque-to-yield thing worry ya. Lug nuts are the same thing, only bigger. And with the intake it's only 144 in/lbs externally and 84 in/lbs on the plenum gasket.

If you will order a intake gasket set from Moparperformance, It comes with a set of new bolts. Allso try (The Mopars Connection.Com)for a good price on gasket set and other parts.
