I have a 4.7 auto and I am thinking about putting it on the bottle (ever since I saw Fast and the Furious). Tell me about you experiences. What kit? What shot? What ignition? What jets? How much to retard? Anything else you might have to share.
Thanks,
Brian

Just a opinion but maybe it would be better for you to buy a supercharge. Unlike NOS the power is there every time and you never have to fill it up. It will also make a cool noise and you can call it true Horse power because when ever you slam it you will have the same power with out it running out. Plus with the gas prices you dont need to fill up somthing else. Plus SC is safer for your engine. Just my $0.02

4.7L and Nitrous...may be rather "harsh" on the engine.

"In the never ending quest to reduce emissions, the distance from the top ring groove to the top of the piston has been reduced to only 1/8th of an inch, making these areas susceptible to excess wear and heat. To combat this, the top ring land, and the area from the land to the head, are hard anodized. No oversized pistons are available, and the replacement pistons/rods are supplied only as an assembly. Can you say aftermarket?" - Dodge

That's not too good with Nitrous...you can try it, it's your engine. Personally, i'd stick to a Kenne-Bell S/C on that bad boy. ;)

Her V6 Accord will need it. They are quite fast alone but a little juice wouldn't hurt. If I had to buy rice I'd probably go with the V6 Accord also but it still will get mugged by my Dak. V6 Acura however would be very close.

RE: Nitrous in a lot more dangorous than a S/C?
IP: Logged

Message:
Why is this? They both do the exact same thing. They provide more air to the engine with a cooler charge. Where most people can mess up with nitrous is when they run to lean which causes detonation. Also with a wet system you can have to much fuel build up in the intake manifold and explode. If you upgrade the fuel and ignition system as you should with an aftermarket S/C then it should be just as safe even though it is not full time power.

Later, Chris

? maybe nitrous just works completely different on dakotas? j/k

Nitrous worked very well on my Dakota and I never had a stack-fire, blow-back, or any other related issue. (Had a Nitrous solenoid stick though...no biggie...turn it off, clean the solenoid, install new seals, and away ya go.)

Nitrous and a Supercharger (or Turbo) work VERY well together but puts a little bit too much strain on the engine since they're not built to hold up to that type of abuse (fun) from the factory. (Easily fixed though with forged pistons and a slightly better suited cam.) :)

Does anyone know where to get a Kenne Bell supercharger for a 2000 Dakota with a 4.7? Is it worth the money spent for the amount of power gained?

Calm down guys shit...I was just saying that the movie was fun and entertianing to watch. You don't have to be into rice burnners to enjoy watching a movie about street racing. I love my truck and I love having a V8..I used to have a neon acr that was all built that could beat most civics and integra's on the road...I am one of the biggest dodge fans around. So just chill out. And for me posting under a different name I have never done that. So jeff and dodge heaven and unix admin I don't know what you problems are...we all have the same truck here and we should just be all trying to help each other out.

I don't get out much and I maybe getting old but I think a "flamer" is another word for a fag, not for Nitrous users. I can't stand loud, obnoxious, ugly import cars either but to each his own. If you like this type of thing, there are other web sites and forums dedicated to them. Lets try and keep this trash of our site. Peace

I have a 2000 Ford Mustang GT and it has been modified a little. I never have used NOS because I always thought of it as cheating. NOS is not real engine power. As far as I can see if you can't win without NOS then your car is obviously not that fast.

Have been waiting three weeks for my NX kit to show from NitrousWarehouse(Mr.Nitrous). He claims that since the"movie" their business has gone up 300%. If I didn't want it soooo bad would cancel my order and find something else to spend my $1200 on. Emailed him on tuesday a.m. and no response, so figure that he still has not gotten my kit from NX. Not happy with his "customer service" at all.

Matt, I agree. Nothing against you NOS users but I have always seen it as cheating also. When you can build a motor (all motor) that beats these NOS users then you have something to be proud of. Any idiot can stick a nitrous system on a car and push a button. Another thing that gets me is most of these guys think they are gonna put nitrous on their cars and gain 3 seconds in the 1/4 mile. It's not like "gone in 60 seconds" when he pushes the "go" button and it climbs from 60 to 200 in 1 second. These are called "Movies".

I don't mean to start crap with anyone. I just think there is more pride when you can go fast and not use nitrous. This is only my opinion and I probably shouldnt have posted it but I just wanted to agree with Matt. Sorry if I got everyones panties in a wad.

I see guys who talk about that nx system. Seems basic and shoddy for the price. The nos brand system looks much better it even comes with a computer to hold open the injectors longer to supply more fuel, and retatrds the ignition automatically when engaged by the wot micro switch(supplied). In other words its a complete kit. I priced it out at Ramchargers in detroit at around $480. As soon as the daughter is out of diapers I'll have the extra money for it. Does any body out there have this system, Or I'd even like to try there new noszle system.

What if your truck can already kick people's ass that have nitrous, but wanna go that much faster...is it cheating then? I heard once you use it, its like a crack addiction and its hard to stop using it. As long as no one else on the street is using nitrous as far as the Z28's and SS Camaros and Rustangs go I can pretty much hang w/ or beat them but when they start adding nitrous only thing else to do is follow the leader right? U can accuse them of cheating all you want but they'll keep beating you...who cares how you get there as long as your first. :)
