Good question. Noise, for one thing. And frankly, they don't do that much anyway. Poor investment. K&N's FIPK claims up to 26 hp gain. Riiiight...

Matt03DAK hey i agree..and it only works if you have a package....cam, lifters, rods, intake, exhaust, and etc....otherwise the fipk is crap.

LMAO!!!! Anything is better than the restrictive stock airbox and intake. Especially the airhat. The reason the factories don't install them is because most owners want a quite vehicle that they don't have to worry about. The design of the stock airbox and airhat help to reduce engine noise, but by doing this, it also restricts airflow. I noticed an immediate difference when I got rid of my factory airbox and switched to the QuickD CAI with cone filter. Much smoother airflow and also more of it. Are the claims made by manufacturers high, yes, but they do work.

Are the claims high? In a perfect world where we all have the same exact climates, and elevations no. However I live at 5500 feet. So it's not that big of an improvemnt, but when I go south it actually comes into play. They, do work. May not be a blower, or nitrous, but it's simple science. More air = more power.

I`ve got K&N FIPK that is certified and documented to produce 7.6 peek HP between 4200 and 4300 rpm. That is on a complete stock engine. Its advantages increases with more mods, like true 68 or 70 mm TB, HO intake, cams, headers and cat back. Deffinitly,it is worth every penny Specially if you want stablish good base for future mods. I don`t know other makers numbers, like, AIR AID, VOLANTE, AIR ONE etc. Does anyone?

I agree w, ya RAT. Those of us that are O2 challenged would make a better investment of the CAI cash by buying more chips and dips for Super Bowl Sunday. I had to go buy a new air filter after taking my truck to the wash and cleaning the engine. Filter was dirty as heck anyway and Now I soaked it with water. So I took off the whole setup right up to the throttle body and drove to the nearest auto parts store. With no intake, there was no difference in the way it drove. (I live in Denver, btw @ 5800 ft).
