Message:
I have been trying for quite awhile to find someone that can change or take out the speed limter or just reprogram my ecm. I have been told from a few ppl that they wont do it because the truck is a 4x4. I have a 99 5.2L 5 speed standard cab. The truck is mainly used for a chase truck for our off road race team. One of my techs said to try getting online and find a fourm site on dakotas. so here I am. The truck has had some minor mods suck as a air intake system, cat back, termostat, jet stage 3 nonemision chip. can some one plz help me Thx James

Don't the Mopar Performance PCM's do this, or was that just on the earlier (OBD1) Magnums?

I have a 00 CC 4.7 Dak, speed limiter is set at 98 MPH. From what I understand the limiter is set at 98 MPH because the stock 1 piece aluminum driveshaft will exceed it's critical speed past 98 MPH, don't want the drive shaft flying apart at 100+. The Dak's with the 2 piece driveshaft have the 119 MPH limiter.

If I am wrong on this, let me know as I wondered why some Dak's are cut off at 98 and others 119.

96 is the old body dak gen1 and is a differnt ball game then the ge2 or3 dak. as for the drive shafts i dont know but ford lightings run alu driveshafts and there is no problem losing the limter on those

I would check with superchips, with the reprogrammer you can adjust how you want the engine to perform and i think also make adjustments for your aftermarket mods.

So who has the 119 MPH limiter besides the RT's? Or should I say, does anyone with the 119 MPH limiter have an aluminum 1 piece driveshaft and what speed rating are your tires?

Tires that came on my truck (Michelin LT something or anothers) are not recommended for speeds above 85MPH, but the limiter is set at 98 MPH???
