Subject: Grabbing sound from left front disk

Message:
Hello fellow Dak owners. I'm having a bit of a problem with my 2001 QC and was wondering if anyone here might be having a similar problem.

I hear a "grabbing" sound coming from the left front disk brake just before my truck comes to a complete stop. I can force the "grabbing" sound to happen by letting up just enough on the brake pedal to allow the truck to inch forward. It sounds as if the brake pad isn't moving across the disk brake smoothly, but other than the "grabbing" sound, I don't notice anything fishy about the brake system...there isn't any shaking or vibrating coming from the brakes. I still have plenty of meat left on the pads, and this little problem is starting to annoy me.

If anyone has any ideas or insights, please let me know.

Thanks in advance,

Kevin

Yeah my '95 CC had that problem a few months ago. Took the tire off and looked at the rotor. I have a nice big ditch going on in the middle of the inside rotor. The pads wore out REALLY fast for soem reason, and I replaced them. I'll be replacing the rotor and pads next time, but for now I have that one rotor with the ditch in it. I guess it isn't harming the truck because with the new heavy-duty pads it runs good.

Roger that Sephiroth...I'll take the rim off again and give it a more in depth inspection. By the way...which brand of heavy duty pads are you using? It's about time for me to start thinking about changing mine.
