well i guess that closes this thread lol

but in that article it was dynoed for 400hp... on an engine dyno. not a chassis dyno... so take 20% off and its a reasonable 320hp to wheels. now i can believe it.

Nobody said anything about 400 RWHP. The original 400hp comment was that a 318 could produce 400hp. This is usually understood as being "at the crank" hp, not rear wheels. Did you see a vehicle in the article? No. You did see an engine on a dyno. Any discussion of potential rear wheel HP has to include, not only the engine, but the asociated drivetrain hardware. There can be a 5% difference between automatics and manual trannys, not to mention the wheel/tire combos, 2WD/4WD, and driveshaft length. All that can make a difference. Okay? I'm talking about realistic goals, not miracle work.
