Flowmasters will be much better. But if you want it untollerably loud you could get glass packs. But those would get old real quick. Go for the Flowmaster and its a great sound and rumble.

Hey DG. When I first had duals installed on my Dakota, I had a glass pack put on. I absolutley hated the sound so I had a Flowmaster put on. Love it! I you want a good sound then I would go with Flowmaster.

The fiberglass packing in a glass pack will burn out in no time. Flowmaster makes different sound levels; 40 louder, 50 quieter, 70 quietest.

i had a 40 series Flow and it rusted out within the year. if you can see the ribs they will look like little v strips from underneath then its rusted! i replaced it with a magnaflow and wow i love it. its quieter than the flow at idle and cruising speeds but under wot its a more satisfying loudness!!! plus the magnaflow is a straight thru muffler. which means no restriction!!!!!
You gatta ask yourself one question...That Thing Got A HEMI???

i have a 2000 4.7 and i have the flowmaster original 40 series single in dual out with 3 1/2 inch stainless rolled tips and a magnaflow high flow cat. it pretty much sounds like heaven i havent heard many other trucks that come close to sounding as good..

flowmaster 40 with a good cam set and I get more compliments on the sound of my dak than I do on my Harley with Vance & Hines pipes!

i bought a 24" glass pack from orielys and its sounds great. moderatly loud when you stand on it but purrs when youre crusin. although i just put a trun down pipe straight out of it.

Hey midnighmagic, what model magnaflow do you have? I've been looking at them but couldn't figure which one to get. I want fairly quiet at cruise with authority when stepped on. A little power or mpg increase would be nice, too.

My bad. Didn't pay attention to post date.
Does anyone have a recommendation for a magnaflow, model # or style/size? They have a lot to choose from. Not looking for loud, just a good V8 rumble at minimum $$.

I finally broke down and just went to a local shop and had a Magnaflow installed. Don't know model, but sounds great. Barely noticeable at idle and cruise, but sounds great when stepped on. Did get the SS Mag for the price of an aluminized Flowmaster. Very satisfied. Just wish I'd done it 9 years ago when I bought the truck. I haven't been able to drive it much since installation to check mileage.

I have a 2006 Dodge Ram with the 4.7 and I have true dual Series 30 flowmasters, only 8" long, they are loud and sound awesome! Loudest you can legally have with a muffler on the road!
