Has anybody tried to swap an early slant six into the Dakotas? I have an 87 short bed and a 65 slant six that i would like to put in it. I think i'll try and use the 5 speed that was in the truck. any help would be appreciated.

All I can offer is that you may run into engine bay issues regarding the length of the bent six. A flex fan with a 1 1/2" spacer works nicely on my Shelby (another shoehorn job).

If you move your radiator to the front of the core support you may have enough room.
Banks had to move the firewall back something like 18 inches and put the radiator in the bed for their project sidewinder.

The reason for the swap is the \6 is a very good dependable engine. and i like to be different have u ever heard of such a swap. anyway what about the oil pan? i havn't tried fittin' it in there yet so i don't know about the clearence. if it won't fit i'll just build my 360 i got layin' around or maybe i'll just build a big block.

The /6 might fit. But have you thought about a Jeep 4.0?
I've herd of 275 Hp versions (225 /6)out there for the Dart. Be cool if you could get one.
I would go with a newer SFI 318 if I was to do a engine swap.

Slant sixes are like your little brother, not real big or strong but they have alot of heart. Also completely bombproof. Like buddy lee, can't bust'em

Well for one thing the starter is on the passenger side not the Drivers side So that will be an issue and the BellHousing Bolt Pattern are completely different.
Gotta Love the Gen 2's Now only if the Gen 3's look this good after 12 Years
