Fellas,

A few buds and I will be going over to Irwindale for some 1/8 fun! Anyone interested should head on over to the track. Gates open at 4:00pm and close at 10:00pm and no helmet required unless your running better than a 8.4x. November 20 is Thursday(a week befoe Thanksgiving).

Eli

Irwindale is the happenin place to race, I'll be running my last Super Stock race of the season this Saturday.
I'll probably go out on the 20th just to watch, I think I'd get laughed at running a V6 4X4 down the drag strip.....

I hate to show my age. but I used to race at Irwindale back in the 60s and early 70s . I didn't know it was still open. Sorry the name just brought back alot of good memories of the days of Cubic inch engines(not Liters ) and 4 barrel carbs

It's not the same track from way back when, but it's close to where it use to be. The track itself is a half mile oval, they run the 1/8 mile drags on a strip that runs along the back of the property and down the staging area for the oval track. Its a very nice facility, state of the art (for us roundy-round guys at least) timing and a nice & smooth racing surface. Unlike Saugus (was) or Orange show.

It used to be next to a gravel pit thing . right off foothill blvd. which i guess is now a freeway.
The first time I ever ran a 1/4 mile was there in 68 in my dads 66 Chevy Impala(He never knew about it either), thought i was hot stuff till someguy in 67 chevelle beat me bad.Later I got a 68 GTO and raced that for a long time. Any way sorry to keep posting , but man it has been a long time since i thought of Irwindale

I might show up for that. I have never run my truck anywhere. 4x4 with 33 inch mud tires...might be slow, but fun. Keep us posted

WHAZZZUP Brig,

I took it one other time and ran the same times(very consistent). I did run slower with some friends I took on a ride along.

I'll have better tires(Nittos instead of Dunlops) and probably my IAT adjuster. The adjuster has been in the box for about 1.5 years(or more) and it's finally going in. I don't expect much, but maybe I'll hit 9.1s.

K&N cracked? I have a way of fixing it if your interested; a little something called QuikSteel. It worked on the small crack my K&N had and it worked on my buddy's kit which had a MUCH bigger crack. The stuff is GREAT and it's rock hard when finished! Give me a call and I'll explain what to do: (805) 890-1632

Im just having K&N send me another one anyways since they will give me a new one free.
Thanks for the offered help though.

ALready got my seats (waiting to go in now) and they look bitchen and should shave 100 pounds. Shifter is ready to go in as well. Valvebody should be getting started friday.
Other then not shifting my truck is running BITCHEN, got a 9.2x NA WITH a passenger on a semi warm night. Some new goodies are in it now and im thinking I can get close to the 8.99 I want before the heads and rockers go in. The superswamper front tires are killing me for weight, they are way to heavy and hard to turn. Xmas will be good to me though.

Well that is my GIANT bump bump bump for this post

Which seats did you get? Floor shifter right? I would love to put in a floor shifter, but I think I'm going to hold off for the 6-speed conversion.

Was the 9.2 on slicks or street tires? What was your 60' on that run? For the life of me I cannot get lower than 2.1x and I think 2.0x can be had at Irwindale with street tires. Hopefully the Nittos will help lower my 60's. Your 9.2 with a passenger is a sweet run!
