MOPARMAN,
I totally agree. When the 5.7 Hemi is supercharged with a Kennie Bell SC it makes over 500hp and 500ft/lbs. http://www.kennebell.net/superchargers/dodge/hemi57/hemi57.htm

You all must be blind to the fact that your trying to mix apples and oranges.

Ford Lightning = unfair advantage from the get go.

It is super charged which boosts the power to the miserable 5.4 litre engine.

Plus the Ram is overrated in Horsepower for some reason. they claim 345, but your only putting 255 to the ground. Thats a bad conversion through the auto tranny.

Lets also add to the fact that all the trucks you compare the hemi to are at least 3 inches lower to the ground than the hemi. The hemi IS a barn door with an engine attached. But the beast could no doubt pull any of the trucks you compare over the line in a tug of war.

Your challenge is like comparing a twin turbo supra to an H2.

Apples and Oranges.

Can any body tell me if there is even a 2004 model Dakota R/T. All I see in the brochure that might fill the gap of not having an R/T is the
Stampede package. I'm not a 2WD person, but the Stampede looks like a cool package, and may become a collector's item one day in the hydrogen fuel-cell future. It looks like an R/T
with Stampede badges and the absense of a 360c.i.
engine. I would love to see some quarter mile numbers on a Stampede. 287c.i.(4.7),5-speed or
545RFE auto, 3.92 sure-grip rear.Stampede v.s.
Hemi Ram reg cab? Why doesn't Dodge offer a Ram
Stampede package like its Dakota counterpart. A lot of people buy Ram's for sport trucks anyway
and I think that some Stampede or R/T like body-cladding might make the Ram's look even better.
Ram Stampede. Try to say that three times fast. Forget the Ram Stampede, they just need to make a Ram R/T for those of us who CAN NOT AFFORD 45 to 55 THOUSAND DOLLARS to buy an SRT-10. Thank you Dodge for at least giving us Dakota R/T's and other various V8 Dakotas and and the Neon SRT-4, but please give us common people more options. The SRT series! Great! Let me get exited, I can afford the neon, but the other two cost more than a house. Why was the Plymouth Roadrunner so popular? The beep-beep horn? No! It was purposely marketed as power for the masses. It may have been stripped to keep prices low, but could run nearly 100mph in the 1/4 and was under $3,000. I would just like to see more Mopar options. Why are Dakota R/T's and reg cab hemi Rams so popular? Because they are within reach of the masses.(with money down and 6 years of financing) I don't want to sound like
I'm tootin' my own horn, and I do not want to take away any from the Ram SRT-10 or Viper SRT-10. How many Vipers do people see on the road compared to other comparable sports cars? Could it be that they are priced way out of reach of Joe Average? That would explain why Dodge makes so few. Again, don't get me wrong here, Joe Average does not need a car that can run 11's in the 1/4, but I'm sayin' that there are a lot of us hobby racers out here that CAN handle and respect the power. We just need more options. We either need to find a way to make more money or just keep modifying what we already have. I'm just saying, how many Lightnings and Harley trucks do we see and how many Ram SRT-10's will we see. The Ford people won't be scared. How many Ram SRT-10's in the near future will they have to face anyway? Not many. I sound like a pessimist, but I really want to be an optimist. Back to the 4.7 Dak Stampede ? Mopar now did a head to head SLT 4.7 vs. R/T. SLT won by a few tenths every time with a best of 15.3! I think you could order a Stampede that would go 14.8.
Thanks to all the people who read all of this.

Well I know this is a Dakota site, but i own a Dodge Ram 1500 regular cab with a HEMI, and im sorry to dissapoint ya R/T guys but my Hemi will out run any STOCK regular cab R/T with either the 4.7 or the 5.9/360 engine. At the Houston Raceway track i have run constant 15.0 and 15.1 @ 89mph inb the 1/4 mile.my truck is still stock. you also have to take into consideration that the regular cab hemi weights about 5000lbs, when the regular bab dakoto weights about 3800 pounds.
I do a lot of street racing, and there is not other truck, not even slightly modified ones that have beat me. only the ford lightning, but once again, it's a whimpie 5.4L if it din't have the supercharger. Even the supercharged Harley Davidsons supercrew, at take off i will pull from it , and then @ about 70 or 75mph, the harly catches up to me and then passes me up , but it's also supercharged...
A lot of people on this site underestimate the HEMI but it's a very powerful engine taking into consideration all the weight of the truck it's pushing. At the track i have even seen stock quad cab 1500 hemis running 15.7/15.8 all day long.

P.S LIGHTNINGS WEIGHT ABOUT 4000LBS
REG CAB HEMI ABOUT 5000LBS

well i saw a 5.7 hemi race an R/T and the hemi ran 11's and the R/T ran around 13's or so.

But i think the only reason the hemi was that fast was because it was slapped down into a regular cab Dakota. i forgot what all the mods were on the engine, but he said he was holding back. i don't know if that was true or not, but he had the serp belt off that ran through 3 other turbos. Quad Turbo hemi scares me :(

But he had to put a body lift on the truck, 4inch body lift, to fit everything under the hood.

I wish i had some pictures of it, truly a sight for sore eyes.

I just know if all 4 of the turbos work, then i would hate to meet him on the highway when he has that belt on.

We own a 2002 R/T and a 2003 1500 Hemi.Both are
RCs but the Hemi is a long bed.The R/T turned
a 15.7 off the show room with massive tire spin.
It later turned a 15.4 with ballast added for
traction. The Hemi went a 15.39 off the show room
with some spin. All of these times were at Gateway
International.
