Got the free timing mod from KRCperformance.com.
I initially tested the timing at idle(11 degrees). I then retested the timing after the mod at idle(15 degrees). It increased my timing 4 degrees across the entire rpm board. It now instantly lays a patch of rubber at least 10ft from a dead stop. This mod makes the truck feel alive again. Before the mod, it use to hook up and go and felt pretty doggy. This mod is good for at least a 10HP increase and the rear wheels and it's free to do. Anyone else out there tried it?? I'm totally impressed. My mid and top end performance gained in the butt dyno.

Hey, I really would like to do this mod, but I can't find the sensor. A little help? Or maybe you can post a picture. Email me at brandon_hulet@yahoo.com.

Its just below the passenger side head! Check next to the distributor on the drivers side for two connectors one is gray and one is black! Follow the black one back to where the sensor is! The gray one is for the distributor. I'm not talking about the ones for the throttle body. That should narrow it down some. You might have to dig between plug wires to find the cable also!

Locating the Free timing Mod for R/T 360's
IP: Logged

Message:
Just some insight....

The sensor is directly located behind the passenger valve cover. It's tight to get to but you can get help by having 1 person looking up from the bottom of engine with flashlight and the other coming from the top to loosen the allen bolts. Once you loosen the bolts, take off bracket which will have the crankshaft sensor attached to it. Disconnect the sensor wiring(by the driver's side valve cover) You will have to slot the metal bracket to the right. This will advance the timing 4 degrees across the rpms. This mod does work......anyone who says it doesn't probably didn't do it right and follow directions. This will only work on the 360 cubic inchers. Sorry this won't work on the 4.7's. This mod actually advances the timing on the already sluggish 360's and makes them come alive again.

Tom I think it also works on 5.2's and 3.9's(same motors except for cylinder numbers and bore)they all have the same crank sensor

Ok, I don't know much about this sort of thing, but I've heard horror stories of people messing up their timing and having a ton of damage. If I do this, how do I know I've done it right? And how will it effect other things like the computer and other sensors? I've got a 94 V6 manual. Thanks everyone.
